U2 on the Zooropa tour @ Wembley Stadium 1993.

phone and satellite linkup's with war victims in Sarajevo.
Salman Rushdie brought onstage by Bono, and treated as if he was the
second-coming.

Crowd booing throughout, hecking Bono.

awful.

Rory Gallagher in Stockholm, late seventies. He was too drunk to play a decent solo. A real shame, he was one of my guitar heroes.

1. Black Sabbath in Brussels (early 80s). They went on stage one hour late which already annoyed me and on top of that they were just crap.

2. Paul Simon in Brussels a few weeks ago. I have lots of respect for this guy but there was absolutely *no* heart and soul in his performance. He went on stage, played 2 hours on automatic pilot and that was it. One of the most boring concerts I've ever seen.

Sportfreunde Stiller, autumn 2007, Stuttgart

Led Zeppelin Seattle Center Coliseum 17th March 1975. Just going through the motions. They played again on March 21 and blew the place away. Even Robert Plant looked like he was waiting in line at the bank.

amy winehouse 2007 zürich, switzerland.
i'm a huge fan, but a concert can't get any worse! she was on stage for 45 minutes, totally drunk, carried away by her stupid lover. she was even yawning when the band played. it was soooooooooo awfull! never saw any musician less inspired and bored. it was so rude!

>I have to ask: why did you watch his show 5 times if he was so bad?

Because they were opening for the Stones.

>Wasn't there a bar or somewhere you could go to?

Not if I didn't want to risk losing my spot that I'd queued all day for! (general admission shows)

David Bowie - Glass Spider Tour

The Strokes in Cardiff a couple of years ago. Waited ages for them, before they eventually came on stage around 10.10 and then were off by 10.45 - wasn't impressed!! No interaction with the crowd and no idea how to put on an Arena show.

Stevie Winwood - early 90's, total snooze-fest.

Poison in the last 80's.

O-Positive, semi famous Boston band in the late 80's. The guitarist's right and left hand each had a mind of their own, and they didn't use it well.

journey opening for stones in 81 was pathetic, plus it was festival seating so you couldnt leave your spot.

Back up band for New Riders of the Purple Sage????

Outdoor show, we are about 10 back from the centre stage, festival seating. Three guys come on stage, a bass player with a chair (looks normal), a guy dressed in an 8 year olds boy scout sweater and a small scout cap at the mike and finaly a guy in alpine hiking garb (leather pants, little Austrian hat, suspenders and knee socks) with an acoustic guitar. The singer and guitarist look like they work together but it becomes apperent the bass player is just sitting in as he tries to coordinate with the guitarist.

The show starts with some very strange lyrics and rediculous guitar playing and it immediatly looks like the bass player is now wondering what he signed on for. It went from bad to worse in material until it bottomed out. The singer reached down into his pants with one hand, undid his fly (Canadian invention) and slid a bannana out of the fly, started breaking pieces off and throwing them at the audience.

Now I mentioned our seating because the next responce was a barrage of burgers, fries and cokes flying mostly over our heads back at the performers. Of course the section we are in is getting real messy and sticky with coke and condiments. The base player ran for it as the other two dodged fast food and yelled obsenities.

NRPS ended up being still one of the most remembered shows, if not for these idiots.

Second pick....Motley Crew, Stones backup in Seatle.

Prince - last year at the O2. Posturing, arrogant egomaniac. There was a five minute video of people saying how great he was before he even came on. Then proceeded to do the same himself, bragging about how many hits he'd had and then murdering them playing snippets at a piano. The only concert I've ever walked out of. Disgusting.

Has to be U2, BC Place Vancouver around '89. I won tickets in a radio show, so at least it didn't cost me. Tiny figures roaming slowly around a huge empty stage with an outline of a big tree behind them (what was all that Joshua Tree stuff about anyway?). Boringest band ever to watch, made worse by their obvious self-importance. No wonder they added all those props for later tours.

Second place, Alan Holdsworth in the early 80's. He didn't even show up at the club - no explanation, no excuse, nothing other than "Uh, looks like Alan isn't coming tonight".

I was there!!! Wang Chung was the warm up act. To me it wasn't the best show I'd ever seen, not even the best Cars show I'd seen, but it wasn't boring........just my opinion. It takes a lot to bore me.

......and for the record I think it was the summer of 1984. Remember Benjamin Orr singing "Who's gonna drive you home....tonight?"

I remember hearing that The Cars were REALLY boring by this guy in high school. But he still wore that Candy-O tee shirt with that chick on the car and her gravity defying set of ba-zongs quite often.
