Thats right - so it wasnt a 'hit'. I guess it got a lot of airplay where you lived, though, without being released as a single as such.

The music industry was moving away from singles around that time toward LPs, and the various FM rock stations would play it quite a bit. It didn't get played on the various AM Top 30 stations, that is true. Those basically went out of business in the 1980s.

Yeah, thats where there was a big difference between the US and UK.

For pop/rock music we didnt have 'genre specific' radio stations (for the most part, we still dont) and there's no differentiation in terms of musical content between AM or FM stations (BBC Radio didnt go to FM until the late 80s).

That, plus until the recent change which saw downloads counted for sales, the UK charts have always just counted sales as being units bought in shops, there was none of this 'airplay chart' stuff.

If I had to choose, I would still lean towards Keith. At this point in our lives though,the Stones and band members are sadly less relevant in some ways than they were back in the 60'-80's. Keith for me just appeared to be more of a regular guy more than MJ.

Bottom line is the Glimmer Twins are inseparable. Better together, than apart.

Speaking of Memo from Turner, did anyone play the Performance soundtrack LP frequently at parties when it was released, and find it as well received as I did back in those days? It really was a moody record. People really liked that album despite its relative obscurity.

I have always prefered Keith for his "rebel" image and his interesting and funny interviews. But Mick his the frontman and he is a hard working guy, very involved in the Stones projects. Nowadays I admire them both equally.

It's been a while since I've read the Gray Glitter story, but from what I recall he is a convicted pedophile with a history of, at the very least, questionable behavior with minors.

The short answer to your question is, I don't think much of him at all, and feel he should be institutionalized, whether it's prison or some other facility, and kept away from any and all minors for the remainder of his life.

I can't help but think your trying to imply that I'm giving a pass to Townshend for doing something similar to what Glitter did, but I don't think the two compare. Again, Glitter has a long, if I'm not mistaken, history of questionable behavior, Townshend doesn't. According to Wikipedia:

"Townshend was cautioned by the British police in 2003 as part of Operation Ore. Following a news leak that Townshend was among the subjects of the investigation, he publicly stated that on one occasion he had used a credit card to access a website advertising child pornography. Townshend, who had posted essays on his personal website in 2002 as part of his campaign against the widespread availability of child pornography on the internet, said that he had entered the site for research purposes and had not downloaded any images. A four-month police investigation, including forensic examination of all of his computers, established that Townshend was not in possession of any illegal downloaded images. Instead of pressing charges, the police elected to caution him, stating, "It is not a defense to access these images for research or out of curiosity." That's quite a difference from what Gary Glitter was convicted of.

I've read a lot of different books and articles on Townshend and the Who, and based on his reputation and what I know of him, I believe him. There isn't one thing or incident in Pete's past that I can recall that points to him being a pedophile. But if someone doesn't believe him, or finds it hard to, I can't say I blame them considering the subject matter. Regardless, I don't think there is any comparison between him and Gary Glitter.

And Gary Glitter was certainly never one of my musical heroes anyways. The only song I know of his is the one they play at basketball games.

As of the last tour,I enjoyed Keiths singing over Jagger's, and Jaggers Guitar playing over Keith's

Siamese twins in relation with the RS.

Keith can sing on-key if he wants to, but usually enjoys singing off-key, for whatever reason. Before They Make Me Run sounds like nails on a chalkboard.
