The Rolling Sones - Their Woman - Their influences
Posted by: Marhsall ()

I was thinking about this the day.

The Rolling Stone's have had many of women in thier life.

I do beleive thier girlfriends have influenced the Stones music itself

Can we name the woman and song Mick & Keef have writen about?

"All About You" was about Annita
"Wild Hoses" Annita
"Angie" David Bowie??

etc................

They have influenced thier music.. clothing, etc............

Did faithful co-write sister morphine?

What about Brian Jones and Annita?
Keith and Annita

Wsn't it Bianca who pushed Keefed away from Mick...

I think ALL the women have influenced thier music and lives and Stones History

When did Keith and Anita break up? Could Soul Survivor be directed at her? "Where you are, I won't be. You're gonna be the death of me". Can't wait to hear Keith singing that on Exile Deluxe.

Wsn't it after a fight w/ Bianaca where Bianca wanted to stop being in the Stones, and do something serious like at being an actor that he Mick wrote "It's only Rock and Roll"?

Sometimes I wonder how the world would be different if somehow Anita Pallenberg never got backstage to meet the Stones that night in Munich in 1965?

On "Time Is On Our Side" there`s two quotations saying All About You is written not to Anita, but to Mick. I`ve read this somewhere else also. And I think, it`s true - for me it would be strange , Keith singing such words about Anita.

"It had a little bit of sentimental input there about his feelings for Mick at the time. Just listen to the lyrics.
- Bobby Keys

I went through a very tough thing in the early 80s with Mick. So you get some songs like All About You, to name just one. There's more on some of the Winos records.
- Keith Richards, 2002"

For starters . . .

Stupid Girl and Yesterday's Papers were about Chrissie Shrimpton.
LSTNT, She's a Rainbow, Child of the Moon ("crescent shaped smile"), and Wild Horses all about Marianne.

Wasn't it Anita who played an influence in the soulnd of Stray Cat Blues insisting that the bass needs to pushed higher?

No Marshall - I'm pretty sure Ron Wood wrote 'It's Only Rock n Roll'

The Stones' wifes and girlfriends had massive impact on the band members' social and cultural behaviour. It's not just about songs that were written about some of these chicks but many times the reasons why they've written.

Marianne taught Mick a lot in culture and literature. And she obviously influenced his songwriting.
Anita was an impact on Keith's and Mick's lyrics and songwriting. It's said that Beggars Banquet was re-mixed because of her interference because she didn't like the sound ...

I think that topic's worth a whole book!!!

It would be great to have a whole book on the topic! They could all collaborate on a novel spinning smiley sticking its tongue out But they won't. It's not their style. Think of all the stuff Astrid (Wyman) experienced...We never hear from her.
I saw a TV docu on VH1, about Women of Influence on hair-metal bands of the '80s -'Do it for the Band' it's called or something. Also, there's an E! True Hollywood Story that aired not long ago on Beatles wives. So, it is high time to see some programming on the Stones' women! They go into some detail on Anita in a Biography Channel episode on the band...Though everyone is described as a model: Marianne is dubbed the "heiress and model"; Bianca is introduced as the "Nicaraguan model".

Not to forget that apparently Anita was instrumental in Gram Parsons' decision to leave the Byrds... And, the album Blonde on Blonde is reportedly inspired by Brian Jones and Pallenberg.

I think Anita and Marianne most definitely were the biggest influences on the Stones. They each introduced their men to so many things - high society, fashion, etc. But especially literature (Marianne having Mick read "The Master and the Margarita" which turned into "Sympathy for the Devil." Mick and Keith's songwriting matured incredibly after they hooked up with those two. Also, Keith grew his hair out and began dressing much cooler once he took up with Anita. winking smiley

I agree - there could definitely be a really great book written about the influence of the women in their lives!
