Louisville, Kentucky, Churchill Downs, September 2006

There is a funny story to this concert. Before the concert, we went to a local bar where a Shidoobee fan gave me a press on tongue. After having applied it to my right cheek, we proceeded to the concert on foot. When it began to rain, we pulled out our makeshift raincoats, which were large black trash bags with a hole cut out to stick the head through.

You may have seen me and my wife. I was the one who looked like a linebacker dressed in black with a bleeding right cheek. I was drenched to the bone.

Great concert as usual, but did not expect to leave looking like that.

I can take the rebound just like lightning...

fair enough. you might try what i did when i realized what a bad guitar player i am: stop playing.

I did the Bill Wyman way and started playing bass, which is much easier even if it hurts your fingers. But i quickly realized that girls don't give a shit about bass players (except if your are a Rolling Stone)

isn't anyone in it for the music anymore? why must it always be about sex?

Cologne 1999 was a very rainy but fantastic tour final. The last time Keith Richards played as his best. This night belongs to my greatest Stones memories!
J have been there too (but dry seated under the roof) and managed to get a recording of the concert. Had a strange feeling then because I thought: If they don't continue touring this would have been their final concert ever.
Funny: Stones tours usually mean (for Germany at least) long hot summers - statistics proof that as early as 1973 (couldn't find earlier data)!

Slightly OT but is there a risk of an electric shock for the boys when they play a show under rainy conditions?

Only if they touch an amp or something, remember they play wireless.

I remember the Black Crowes stopped playing during their support slot at Wembley 1994/5? due to rain.

Ah, the show in Bergen was quite wet! And despite that - brilliant. I've been trying to get a decent bootleg from that show - and with no success. Here are a few rainy photos from September 1st 2006 at Koengen, Bergen, Norway. Found in an old lap top. I took them with a very small digital camera. A PowerShot, so please excuse the poor quality. At least they brought back some great memories for me...

Poor quality ? They are really great, makes me wonder rain´s flooding out of the laptop...

Although our standards may be different I wished I would ´ve been able to make
some shots of this quality at the shows I attended...thank you,Addicted.

P.S. not sure about the rain on this one, but this looks quite nasty ("more like an episode of Survivor than a rock concert", as Dean Goodman wrote in his review) --

Thanks His Majesty for the reply!

Wasn't there a VGP boot titled "You're Not Sugar I'm Not Sugar" that documented the 1995-04-05 VERY wet show in Adelaide...?

"The title of the CD is a Jagger quote from the show:

"We got a bit of sweeping up to do cause of the rain. I hope your not getting too wet up there, I think its just a few showers you know.... and YOUR NOT SUGAR AND IM NOT SUGAR so your not going to melt. The next one we're gonna do is ah.. new song for ya its called You Got Me Rocking .. all right ch ... I was a butcher .."

Can't forget about East Troy, Wisconsin in Sept. '89. No rain during but (if you've been there) you'd remember a steep slope down to a bowl and the stage. They'd had like 12" of rain the previous week, many roads closed and washed out. It was unclear early if we could even drive there. But after the show, it was next to impossible to walk out and back up the hill. Crawl up a ways and then slide back down. Slippy clay soil not suited to that task at all. Just exhausting really. I'm tired just thinking about it again. Great show though!

Cologne 99 was a great gig!
People were dancing in the rain. Good vibrations!

Still have nice pics from us in the pouring rain.

Well, it didnt actually rain at Slane (not during the Stones' set anyway). It was a bit windy and cold, and VERY muddy.

Getting back up that hill in the dark was like scaling the north face of the Eiger.

Oh yes, I remember Paris, Longchamps II 1995. Rain, thunder etc.

Munich II, 1990. Pretty wet in the first row.

East Berlin II 1990, the muddy show (a short scene is shown in the "At the Max"-movie). The day before: the dusty show.

And Munich II 1982: a very hot afternoon and then the rain came.

Isn´t it one of the highlights of Flashpoint?

Must have been one of the usual suspects (according
to the booklet): Adebari, Fisher, Gassian, Mazur, Natkin, Safari)

We had a Stonesshow here in Berlin on August 14th, 1990, when they played East-Berlin. It was a hot day's night and just before the Steel Wheels Show started it all came down on us.The show was postponed for about three quarters of an hour and so we went home, put on some dry clothes and when we returned they were just into Tumbling Dice...
