well all right! thanks open-g honey and rs1806 - i thought that was supposed to be the Voodoo in that shot, so ... i'm glad it is! the story i've heard is that Keith found the kitten huddling in the rain on the studio grounds and brought it inside to dry off, then created a little nest for it, including (eventually) a sign saying "Voodoo's Lounge". apparently it was Charlie who, when they were pondering album titles, pointed at the sign and said "how about that"

I recall that fashion photographer Arthur Elgort also shot the Stones in 1981. Did Elgort shoot the Stones on horses at Longview Farm? Does anyone recall those Elgort pics? I think they were in Life or Rolling Stone magazine.

hm ... is the one in the middle one of Elgort's, maybe? i know Ken Regan took the one of Mick but i don't know who took the other two, and i'd love to. that one in the middle is one Definitively Hot Photo.
The one in the middle appeared in the issue of Rolling Stone with Keith on the cover in '81. My copy was lost, so I can't check who the photographer is. I'm sure someone else here has it though.
