This painting is called PENSIVE. What do you think Keith is playing? Or what do you think Keith is thinking?
It´s an amazing Ronnie´s painting.

Maybe Midnight Rambler. This is one of Ronnie's decent paintings.

it's one of my favourite Ronnie pieces too.
i believe the photo it's based on was taken during Night Time Is the Right Time -
Keith often sat on the drum riser for the first part of that one.

I think Keith is playing Nearness of You. He is thinking in Anita.

:-)

Hmm....Night Time Is The Right Time, I'm not going to disagree with with sssoul's observational expertise!

>> It´s all possible <<

er ... not really! even leaving chords aside: he doesn't use that guitar for Rambler,
he didn't play Nearness on the ABB tour, and he doesn't normally sit down during IORR.

(i do understand that without seeing the photo it's based on you might imagine it's a rehearsal or something,
or that Ronnie took "poetic license" with the instrument and fingering. but that's not the case.)

He's is playing boogie in B, that's for sure... Could be the end of a 12 bar blues in E too.

Keith plays MR with a yellow-black Gibson Les Paul, not that black one. Could be IORR or Gimme Shelter ...

... i don't have the shot Ronnie based the painting on on my computer,
but going through my 2005/06 photos: could it be Back of My Hand?
Keith and Ronnie sat on the drum riser for the start of that one too,
and the lighting was bluish like that.

Back of My Hand in Philadelphia:

for the record, even though it's plainly not the same show as the painting,
here's Night Time Is the Right Time in Rio:

the photo Ronnie based the painting on is in the official 2007 Stones calendar,
if anyone has that and a scanner ...

Ronnie said Keith was in a reahrsal very pensative and Ronnie created a study. After the study Ronnie created the painting. But you have very good options, friend. It´s very exciting think what Keith was playing.

Many thanks.

:-)

While performing "The Nearness of You", he's thinking of Patricia. He serenaded her with this song - on his knees - at their wedding in Cabo San Luca. And the first time I saw him performing it live with the Stones was probably at the Cirkus Krone in Munich, June 2003. (- Hoagy Carmichael wrote this one - and I'm f**king gonna do it! - I believe those were his words - and it was one of the highlights of that show. At least for me.)

And about "Pensive" - I'm the proud owner of one of these - from the "Collectors Edition". Yes, it's one of Ronnie's best Stones-portraits. Blue Charlie is another great work of his. And I must admit I love "Skulls on Stage".

Well, what was it? Since it was replaced with LOL, it indicates something not so nice and rather provoking, if you keep up the tradition?
