Most success with the least talent?
Posted by: Elmo Lewis ()

Reading Mick's quote about Madonna - "A thimbleful of talent in a sea of ambition".

Who do you think had the most success with the least talent?

I'll say Milli Vanilli, Ringo (a decent drummer, but , hell I coulda been the drummer and been successful with these guys), Village People, and Weird Al.

Ringo is FAR better than merely decent... and perefect for the beatles.

Imagine a talented (and flamboyant) drummer like Keith Moon, drumming for the beatles... it wouldn't have worked.

A guy at work went to see spice girls last night at the O2 , said it was a good show , we asked if they mimed , he didn't think so , he said they did their few hits and they each did a solo spot, they all sang one of their own hits but when it came to posh she just stood and pouted and the crowd went wild.WTF is that all about people encouraging no talent.

Same guy at work bought the Amy Winehouse cd the day before , someone said she was on TV the night before and she was slurring and forgetting lines and that she was terrible .

I said at least she was not miming and would rather see her ramshackle performance than a polished miming act like the made up bands that are currently playing all over the country to people who are obviously not bothered if they watch live music or pre-recorded

I wouldn't agree that Britney was talentless. She just, well, I don't know what I'd call what's going on with her. She's just gone a bit mad.

LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!

I guess Milli Vinilli (sp?), as somebody mentioned, would be the perfect example.

Lest we forget the luckiest bastard in the world. Kevin Federline. Man, did that loser make out like a bandit. He gets to boink Britney when she was still hot. Then when she's not so hot anymore, he gets her money and kids, leaving her a complete nutcase.

First: The last sentence I could agree with.
The former is debatable - an old issue here.
A litte too broad a genre to put away so easily. Imo.

Saw her do it live amongst all the other "greatest hits" in Oakland back in the day. Took my daughter and a group of her friends...they loved it!

Come on! This girl has zero talent. You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl.

I consider talent in the music biz someone who can at least write some of their own material. Anyone who relies on outside sources for a majority of their material is a 'performer', not an artist. The Stones, Beatles, etc are artists, while 'performers' like Britney, Spice Girls, boy bands etc are merely puppets.
