A guide to IORR jargon
Posted by: Doxa ()
Date: January 28, 2010 10:16

Have you noticed that we are creating a kind of sub-language of our own here at IORR. That's a sign of living community!

I guess the following ones are quite familiar terms by now:

"The Las Vegas-Era"
"Taylorites"
"Ronnie Apologists"

The fact that all these terms have a kind pejorative sense tells how critical and reflective community this is... I find that funny, and I hope that no one's taking to seriously our 'discource'; it's good to able to laugh a bit to oneself... smileys with beer

I think there is an old thread about this somewhere, where all the shortened words are, amongst other IORR-expressions.

Glad I could give you a giggle! "also a client" - I forgot about those Sy Sperlings ads for The Hair Club for Men. Cheesy ads, but a great line that has lived on.

"Setlist Carer" - not to be confused with the more common "Setlist Whiner"

... a related term is the concept I've called the "gem/warhorse paradox," which describes how unsatisfied many fans feel with the band's performance of gems such as "Sway" or "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" when it finally occurs, and the fact that however overplayed they are, the warhorses tend to come off much better at this late date.

intricately connected to "taylorites" or "taylorism," too. "warhorsing" should be a new term, roughly meaning to be on "cruise control"
