Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform at Continental Airlines Arena on Oct. 9 and 10. Both shows are sold out. 'Magic', Bruce Springsteen's new studio recording and his first with the E Street Band in five years, is set for release by Columbia Records on October 2nd.

I guess I have seen Bruce so many times that the novelty of Van Halen w/ DLR really has me looking forward to the show. I want to see how many times DLR says "Look at all the people here tonight" and I want to see him get hit in the head with a roll of toilet paper and threaten to F$%# the guy's girlfriend who did it. I still may end up going to see Bruce Again. To me, in the early 80's there was nothing like a Bruce w/E Street concert....except maybe AC/DC! (and of course we won't mention the Stones, cause that's a given.)
Knowing Bruce, this setlist will resemble the opening night setlist about like Mick resembles Keith. He's constantly changing it up. Hopefully we'll all get "Candy's Room" and "She's The One." It's impossible to predict though. Either way, it will rock.
So now begins the long debate about what Brooce should or shouldn't play and then it will all move onto a debate about the quality of the versions - just like with every Stones concert. Why can't we all be happy just to see the great man and his wonderful band given us a good time for a couple of hours. Enjoy. My goal so far as Springsteen and Stones Concerts are concerned is to take along someone who would NEVER normally go to such concerts and watch the conversion. In the past 10 years I have taken my parents to Stones concerts' my 10 years old daughter' my 15 years old nephew - (kevin the teenager) my 21 year old hip hop loving neice and various others who are now fully fledged Stones freaks. My mission continues in December with an 'Introduction to the music of Mr Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band'.
Excellent setlist. I'd be very happy to get one like that. Surprised to see so many 'Darkness' songs - especially the rarely played 'Something in the night'...

Theres 3 songs from BTR, and 3 from darkness in that list! Not bad for two albums that are 30 years old and considering hes touring behind a new record!
Not really much demand amongst Bruce fans for setlists heavy with songs from Human Touch/Lucky Town it has to be said

I dont think it'll change that much at this stage. Maybe there'll be more variety in the cities that are getting two shows, but in this early first 'run' of shows, it may be more 'standard' than some think. I'd expect more variety as things progress, though.
This was a short show by Bruce standards at 21 songs and only 2 hours. By the time it gets to the official tour start next Tuesday in Hartford, which will actually be the 4th full concert of the tour, I think those numbers may grow by a few songs and up to 1/2 hour in length.
That's a very good setlist so far, with very few warhorses. Only 4 of the songs were commercially released singles: Born To Run, My Hometown, The Rising and Lonesome Day and the only warhorse in that bunch is Born To Run. The Promised Land is the only other song that could be considered a warhorse.
I'd have been happy seeing this show. I've seen Bruce play close to 200 different songs live and had I seen this show, I'd have picked up 9 more I've never seen live with the 7 new songs from Magic, another newly released in2 007 song in American Land and an old classic I've never had before in Something In The Night. Thundercrack is a very rare song that I've only seen once and never with teh full E Street Band.

It is rare!
Mind you, played it first night in Manchester way back in May 1981. Don't think he's played it more than a handful of times since!
Well I have no problems with the setlist. With Bruce I won't quibble about all the different songs he could do. Some nice nuggets there. Yes it was a rehearsal, but it was a live rehearsal played in front of a paying crowd. A little surprised to hear Gazza say he does'nt expect much of a change. But that's allright. I'm in for Oakland and greatly looking forward to it....He is doing another live rehearsal show tonight. I'll post it on here as soon as it's up on Backstreests. We'll see if their is much difference.

OMG I like a lot of Springsteen songs but that has to be one of the worst Christmas songs done by a rock artist. Irritating imo.
If I ever saw him live I would like to see him do "This Hard Land". IMO that is one of his best latter day songs.

He's gotta play the new stuff or it's just a repeat of the past tours and he becomes another Steve Miller concert. As fun as it is to hear the old stuff, if I want to revisit it I can put on one of the many live DVD's.
Here is the setlist from last night's second rehearsal show. Courtesy of BTX. One,more rehearsal show to go on Fri.in E.Rutherford before the tour officialy kicks off in Hartford on Tues.....Quite a bit of differance. Bruce is trying out lots of stuff. Be interesting to see what sticks.
1. Radio Nowhere 2. Prove it All Night 3. Lonesome Day 4. Gypsy Biker 5. Magic 6. Night 7. She's the One 8. Livin in the Future 9. Promised Land 10. Town Called Heartbreak 11. Darlington County 12. Born in the USA 13. Devil's Arcade 14. The Rising 15. Last to Die 16. Long Walk Home 17. Badlands
Encore: 18. Girls in Their Summer Clothes 19. Thundercrack 20. Born To Run 21. American Land
He did a stadium show in 2003 where he opened with "Downbound Train"...it worked well. Sounds like an odd choice at first and made it a real footstomper.
