I sum up all members of audience who are listed on iorr.
I don't know, if these numbers are correct, maybe a bit too high.

2005: 1.256.000
2006: spring 883.000
summer 1.020.000
fall 706.000
=> total 2006: 2.609.000
2007: 1.189.000

2005-2007: 5.054.000
with Rio: 6.354.000

Thanks. I think the official numbers will be lower about 20-25 percent. So without Rio: nearly 4.000 000, with Rio: about 5.000 000
The money is a bit over 500.000 000 $
World record for a lot of years!

No one...so now we've established that, can we now get around to having future tours where its no longer seen as something of importance?

I doubt The Who could top it...even thought The Who are great, they only play 40-50 shows every three years or so...and they play in arenas and theaters, not in stadiums anymore...

I think the only band today that could top these numbers is if Pink Floyd decided to do a full blown worldwide reunion tour.

Why so ? For example, and without any patriotism of whatsoever,the numbers for France in 2007 are low. Others : O2 : 23,000 x .80 = 18,400. Slane = 70,000 x .80 = 56,000. Stade de France = 50,000 X .80 = 40,000 ( capacity = 79,500 ), Giants Stadium = 49,000 x .80 = 39,200. Soldier Fields = 30,000 x .80 = 24,000 ( i.e. O2 ).

Lets face it. It was an incredible tour for all sorts of reasons. But what I think about is the problems they overcame: Charlie's throat cancer, keiths 'fall'. Micks laryngitis. Ronnie on (or off) the booze. Ok, so the setlists were not always as diverse as we would've liked, but... Well over 6 million people saw this truly fantastic rock 'n' roll band play numerous shows all around the world. Three trips to North America, two trips to Europe. The Superbowl. Copacabana Beach. The far east, including China. Australia and New Zealand.

Also, for me, it was the first tour when I met alot of you guys here on IORR and it REALLY added to the experience:

Paulywaul, Beast, Manofwealthandtaste, BarRoomQueen, Gazza, Rockman, Sonic Dreamer, Little Queenie, Roadster32, Kahoosier, Flairville... And others...

And, not forgeting some truly amazing performances, and some great cuts.

Shine a light, waiting on a friend, can't you hear me knocking, midnight rambler, you got the silver, this place is empty, it's all over now, she's so cold, she was hot, ain't too proud to beg, beast of burden.

Add to the above some of the greatest ever songs recorded being performed live in front of your eyes, and, ladies and gentlemen, you've got yourself one hell of a night out...

Well, according to an older article published on Billboard magazine, the attendance of the first 110 gigs was 3,500,000. Official number. The rest is : the last six northamerican gigs + european leg 2007. With conservative estimates that does mean 1,200,000 - 1,250,000. Maybe a bit more. So the total ABB attendance is + 4,700,000 approximately. Without including Rio's gig, of course. I'm sure that georgelicks will inform us. Soon.

No official numbers for Europe, but we can say about 4.800,000 without Rio.

georgelicks is the record sales guru, sticky - I had YOU down as the attendance figures man!

An impossibility. If the Stones did small shows (venues with capacities from 750 to 2500) with tix prices at $25. By the time we the public could buy them, they would run about $2500 (from brokers).

I think an ah-ha reunion would top all.

Yeah "Take On Me" can be their sole warhorse lol.

I actually love that song. Came out when I was a senior in high school.

I think they will do more stadium shows. Simply because they are far the best in that business.

"No official numbers for Europe, but we can say about 4.800,000 without Rio."
So with Rio: +6.000 000
How many on Vodoo? More?

A-ha?

Alas they have reunited long long ago. Or did I dream that?

May be AC/DC could top it, if they decide to go on tour next year!

Re: total attandance

There are only a few that could come close to those figures the Stones have.

U2 and a Pink Floyd reunion could possible beat both the stones attendance and cash in. A few others like The boss with E-streetband, AC/DC and Madonna are probably the ones that would come after. That´s on a worlwide basis. In Europe artists like Robbie Williams, Depeche Mode and Metallica could possible beat the Stones european attendance... but the cash in? No I dont think so.

well, no one else would charge $500 for a mediocre ticket, I suppose.

A Led Zeppelin reunion tour after 28 years could and would outgross that, I would think. Considering theyve two generations of fans who have never seen them.

Why its a source of pride is beyond me, I have to say...why does anyone care? For those who do - are you first and foremost fans of a rock n roll band or a multi-national that happens to have guitars?

The importance of this crap reduces the music to that of a mere side attraction and impinges on EVERY aspect of the band's motivation, be it the type of venues they play, the amount they charge for tickets, the type of audience they seek to attract and the songs they choose to play as a result.

None of them in a good way, either...

Gazza, I totally agree. We dont know reliably how Robert Johnson looked like and we still love him. Who cares about attendance...
