Imax makes Stones larger-than-life Tue Jul 31, 4:39 AM ET


TORONTO (Hollywood Reporter) - Giant screen exhibitor Imax Corp. will release a super-sized version of Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones concert documentary on September 21, the same day the film opens in traditional theaters.


"Shine A Light," named after an old Stones gospel tune, revolves around a pair of rare club shows filmed last fall at the Beacon Theater in New York.

Toronto-based Imax was in part put on the map in 1991 by "Rolling Stones: At the Max," a concert film culled from the British rockers' European tour the year before.

IMAX ? Boy o boy that would be great, the Stones at the Max thing in IMAX projection is fantastic. The Beacon film would I imagine be also something special, especially if you were lucky enough to have been in there !

Will it appear on dvd after the cinema?

Fine with me. I have an IMAX within walking distance of my flat.

Is it just the one by me, or do most IMAX theatres run their movies for a long time? The one by me seems to run the same film for six months or so.

It says the release date is sept. 2007.. Ok, I might be slow here, but always thought of this film as a film that would be released some time in the distant future, but now it's suddenly UNDER two months 'till it's on..
