How to play riff on this track?

I think the stones played it in G on the Love You Live album (El Mocambo show, i love it)

I think the basic chord pattern is this: G/Gsus4/G C D (correct me if i´m wrong)


I´m asking for the riffs they made on Love You Live between the first 2 lyrics verses for example and from 2:54 till the end of the song.
They are so good riffs that could be repeated over and over the chords and i can´t figure it out, maybe more experienced guitar players on this forum could light me up.

Which part? Ronnie's, Keith's or Mick's? Three chords, but depends on which part, cause Ronnie's and Keith's are filled with licks whithin the chords.

Both (Keith & Ronnie) would be very helpful to insert them playing ><

It's G/C/D like you say. I think the riffing around is to color it up. In the right channel Ronnie (?) does a good little melody line every once in a while.
This was the first time I sat and really listened hard for guitars on that side of disc.
I have read where some say there are up to 5 guitars on "Mannish Boy". While I don't doubt it, I have a hard time hearing that. I do hear more than two for sure; and while Jagger is very good at blowing harmonica licks in between lead vocals, I have never heard him do both at once. But it is Billy Preston who seems to be everywhere (channel wise) and on different keyboards too.

Ronnie does the funky part. Keith plays the melodic reggae-ish part, with the more fuzzy sound. Mick is just strumming.

BTW, Ronnie has at least two guitar overdubs on the LYL-version. The El Mocambo-version sounds more stripped.

Well i know the El Mocambo boot and i love the Stones sound and feeling...it were raw shows for sure!

I do. Form a G chord. Pick the G note on the 6th string and go back and forth between that and the B note on the 5th string. That's the beginning.Then move it over one string and play the C note on the 5th string followed by an open D string (4th string) and the 5th fret of the 4th string, then down half a step on the same string...soryy, I can't write tablature.

I'm doing that now 71 Tele and it sounds correct.

It's sort of hard because I am trying to play along with LYL version and it's a little tough to suss all of the guitar parts out of the mix.

I sort of want to throw in the reggae rhythm strumming with this piece.

That's what's great about the song. You can mix up that riff with choppy chords. I played it in my band for years, based on the LYL version. Always a favorite.

Close. The first five notes are all a G on the E string. Then goes back and forth between that note and the B on the A string. Ends with open D string, then 5th fret on D string and 4th fret on D string.
