there's an 'all-star' tribute album in the works, but i'm not aware of any new music being made by the man himself.

This thread needs to be bumped. I mean whatever anyone thinks, a little appreciation for Elvis can´t do any harm, could it?
About Bowie...hmm, I think we´ve seen the last of him on the live scene.
He seems content on doing guest appearances on other peoples records nowadays.
Well, a little anectdote about Bowie, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in person, nicest guy in the business, in my book.
Well, here it goes: Bowie played the Norwegian Wood festival, in..yes, Norway.
And someone in the audience threw a lollipop, that hit Bowies eye, the lollipop was sitting right there in his eye, the shaft of the lollipop sticking out from his eye, but no harm was done. However, someone taped the gig, and it came out not long after on disc as "David Bowie-The Lollipop Festival"
Funny or not, a true story it is.

Jan. 9, Jimmy Page turns/turned (pick your time zone) 70! This must have been mentioned somewhere else, but if not, here it is. Happy b-day to one of the world's greatest musicians and all-around coolest guys.

Which is not His Supreme Looniness Kim Jong-un, whose birthday was also Jan. 8.

That whole concert is so good, I think it's the first tour after the '68 comeback show.

I think the backup singer he jokes around with is Whitney Houston's mom.

Also great drumming by I think Ron Tutt on that song.

Elvis always had really good players in his band. He was still in pretty good shape at this point. One of my favorite songs by him.

Paul Hester would have been 55 on Jan. 8, I just realized. RIP

It's quite the rock-star day.

I am huge Finn fan in all of the guises. That makes me sad. He was only 2 years older than me. I met him a couple of times. Very charming but manic. He was quite proud of the fact that he had been in Split Enz. He is missed.sad smiley

CH was never the same without him. The only times I saw him he was running around the stage naked during their shows! Funny at the time, but looking back and knowing what happened - plus what you say about him being manic - makes you wonder ...

True about Crowded House but I still enjoy them. Their last US tour was fantastic. Neil Finn is a special songwriter & performer. I've got tickets to see him at the end of March. Not doing many US dates & he is going to have both sons & his wife in the band. The Pajama Club cd is very good, too.

Thanks for tour info, sounds like a plan. Don't know why he hasn't been knighted or ennobled yet!

Same astrological star signs.
Yet very contrasting personalities, unless you go looking for similarities.
