Because Charlie is 72 if this tour would finish. In 2010 there's enough demand again to allow a world tour. But I think NO MORE world tour is most likely or one that only takes a few months.

but 2 years earlier he is 70

The main question is maybe not Charlie's age, I admit, but Keith' condition. Two years is a long period for a alcoholic in his late 60's! But this thread is useless anyway. We will know in 2012 if there is a tour or not; unless a band members dies until then ;-)

5 years ago the stones didnt look that
much different to now
and also if they get bald, whatever

It's not so much what we think of a bald Keith; more of what the man himself thinks of going on stage without his mop.But you're right - that is not really imporatnt.
But I think with each passing year the age difference becomes respectively a bigger issue. The 10 years from 60 to 70 age are a WAY bigger difference than the 10 years between 50 and 60 years of age.

Why don't they retire to the studio now, like the Beatles did (just that they were too young when they retired to the studio)?

As the Stones have figured out, people in general just don't care about new Rollings Stones Records aside from us die hards.

Mick even said "we put a few new ones on LICKS and nobody really cared."

Sales are in the toilet...I think they knwo what they are doing and they got it locked down...touring and physical merchandise are their bread and butter.

The older they get the more the legend grows...they ain't going anywhere anytime soon...it's all they know.

Mick is power hungry and likes to be in charge...the most powerful seat he can sit in is being in charge of a worldwide Rolling Stones tour.

Mick doesn't have the balls to try and tour the U.S. solo and Keith couldn't make it thru a full night behind the mic of the Winos.

I'll put money down on a SPRING U.S. 2009 tour for sure.

five years when your past 60 is a lot more significant a period of time than when youre 30,40 or 50.

Every single one of the band members has had health issues in the last three or four years that could and probably will have a negative effect on their ability to do what they do at some point in the next few years

To assume that there will be no further significant physical decline by 2010 or 2012 in any one of the four of them is wishful thinking.

because there's no comparison. No one could hear the Beatles when they performed and in 2007 hardly anyone buys new Rolling Stones records.

Because they are not The Beatles. As Mick Jagger says in the Hyde Park DVD: "The Stones' forté is at concerts and The Beatles' forté is in the studio". It would be perfectly natural for The Stones to make good of their forté just as The Beatles did. While they kept in the studio, The Stones could keep to the road.

well in 5 years keith will be alive and maybe he cant make
his moves anymore but he will still be able to play a bit
(he does not play a lot these days, and nobody cares)
for charlie its a big deal for sure, but its not impossible for him
ronnie is always a ?
and mick will be fit with 68 like a regular 25 year old
everybody can die every day for sure

but if the stay alive there will be the steel wheel chair tour 2012/2013
