OT: Who was for you the best Concert in 2009?

The best concert in 2009 was for me, Y & T, the great hard rockband from California. They performed a great 2-hours-show with amazing guitar solos.

Cat Stevens (I prefer not to use the name Yusuf Islam - although perhaps HE might prefer I did ?) at the Royal Albert Hall 8th December. Absolutely flawless, his songs are timeless and for a man who had not set foot on a stage for some 33 years, he sure looked and felt at home ! Hope he comes round again.

Oasis played the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, and they were really
amazing.Their song selection was wonderfull, sound was even better, only their stage performance sucks, definitely compared to the Stones. they didn't show any joy in playing at all, that was a pity.

No background-singers/players shit, just a pure rock'n'roll guitar band.

The way our boys were , a long time ago......

The Cult- Moore Theatre in Seattle. Ian Asbury and Billy Duffy ripped it up. Met them after the show and they are very cool guys. Ian told me I could be Billy Duffy's twin brother. Cool compliment.

Was at that show too paulywaul and got a fairly decent video of it. That's certainly up there along with Neil Young at Hyde Park and Mott The Hoople at Hammersmith Odeon.

Springsteen by a mile.

Neil Young and Ry Cooder/Nick Lowe were great too. So was Bob.

1.Bruce Springsteen, Rome (my first Springsteen show, hopefully not the last one.I'd trade any remaining concerts of my entire life for a handful of his)

2.U2 ,Zagreb( Didn't know what to expect from this one after reading so many negative comments about their shows nowadays, but to be honest they completely blew me away.I dunno if it was the music or that otherworldly stage and lights but something just felt so right.Of course,Bono was a douchebag for most of the show but that goes without saying.Still a good performer though)

3.Leonard Cohen, Belgrade (a wonderful three hour show, backed by a fantastic band, Cohen seems to be in great shape despite his age)

4.Iron Maiden (not the kind of music I am usually into but Maiden is one of those bands that have something about them which sets them apart from their peers. In so many ways Maiden brings back the scent of the old days, of childhood, of the world that vanished or simply transformed into smth entirely different. It's not nostalgia)

5.AC/DC (a good show,a tight band, but something was missing. They are just not a great stadium act due to their music being too stale and predictable.Would love to see them in a smaller venue where they could showcase their chops as they are meant to be heard)

1) Paul McCartney at Citi Field, 3rd night. my first Macca concert, a 2 and a half hour set of my favorite music (outside the stones of course)

2) Bruce Springsteen, entire The River album, at MSG. My first Springsteen concert too! This was probably the greatest concert I've ever been to overall. Best live act I've ever seen. Only liked Paul more because I knew every single Paul lyric/hook/riff etc, whereas with Bruce I wasn't as familiar.

3) U2 at Giants Stadium. great performers, a great spectacle, but hate the stadium sound

4) Clapton/Winwood at MSG. great show
