I say Bill Wyman.. he's got some great bass lines yet no one ever seems to mention him.... i've been listening recently to my new ffrr lp made in england Rolling Stones Now and there's a lot of great Wyman...
all of them, 'cause they're so unique. JAGGER is not a singer KEITH and RON ARE not guitarists CHARLIE is not a drummer. They are just MUSICIANS and bluesmen. Known or unknown they are. Guitar solos, drum solos or celine dion are not their cup of tea. They have always been underrated by those who love just fine songs or celebrity of the month. Imo, Blues is in all of their songs.
Mick, not only is he is a great rock singer, he is arguably the best music stage performer to ever live, right up there with Elvis and James Brown, also a very underrated lyricist.

Thats the simple reason for my choice. They're both great of course (as are all of them past & present) but in the last decade it's been Mick who has creatively held the band together more than ever before.
Something which IMO he hasnt received enough credit for.

Brian, not as a guitarist specifically, but as a musician (and icon) Ron Wood, who I still think is underrated (and I mean his entire career) and Stu, so often too low in the mix and a hero in Stones' legacy. And yes some so called fans underrate Bill, whose playing is so distinctive, self-effacing (just the opposite of his first autobio), and intended - as he put it - "to melt into Charlie's drums." (I remember waiting in line for tix in '94, two guys behind me saying "I hope they finally get a decent bassist.")

I would have thought Charlie would have been a runaway pick in this category. He has been there since the start, made every tour every show. Except for his occasional desire to stop touring he has been the good faithful bandmate. Staying out of the spotlight, but always ready to step in and join his mates. They do not use an additional drummer on stage and during band intros,Charlie gets as big a cheer as anybody.

How can someone whom earned hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars with doing wih he does be "underrated"? So how can Mick or Keith be underrated?
If anyone is underrated it is Bill Wyman, as without Bill there is no live Rolling Stones. Bill literally made the Stones in the 70's. Without Bill no Keith Richards, no groove, no swing. Without Bill the Stones became Status Quo in Las Vegas.
Ronnie Wood, but I would also say Brian Jones. Brian was much adored when he was alive. Since his death a lot of history has been build on Brian's legacy. Today we see people neglecting him a bit. I think he was more important than most people realize, though I also think that he did burn out because of drugs (Why I also think it was good to fire him).
BTW: Don't watch "Stoned". I rented it last week and it really blew. Frickin' boring.

Looking at the big picture, the Stones from a historical perspective I would agree with rooster - Brian Jones.
