Prince is the greatest artists of the past 30 years. Always a fan, but just recently started to go Prince mad. Would love to see the guy live!

i've been trying to get my friends 15 year old brother into prince and he just doesn't get it.

he's like "he looks and sounds so gay. he never has long guitar solo's and i don't care how many instruments he can play because he's not the best person in the world at any instrument and the songs suck anyways."

The guys I work with think Prince is "utter pants". They also use the arguement that Prince looks and sounds gay. Although they use that arguement for Mick too. I could'nt care less if they are or not, they make great music. I suppose you get it or you don't.

tell him to go to You Tube and search for the version of 'while my guitar gently weeps' with Tom Petty et al from that George Harrison tribute a couple of years ago - you can thank me later....

Prince is fabulous. The guy created his own universe.
Somehow his world reminds me of... Shakespeare. He is like the buffoon and king Lear, Desdemona and Hamlet all rolled into one.

I love International Lover: how much self-mockery must you have to write such a hilarious piece of self-praise? "I know it's hard to beleiiive", says the tiny man in falsetto voice, "but this body here is free tonight".

LadyCab driver, as violent and ambiguous as the best Eminem songs.

Nicky masturbating in a hotel lobby.

and POP LIFE, my favourite! Everybody's got a space to fill, life ain't really funky, unless it's got that pop!

And Temptation: kitsch dialogue with God, at once ridiculous and strangely relevant.
One of my favourite pictures is Prince, alone in his studio, recording every instrument and singing every voice of Temptation, getting completely high on his own delirious mind. Proper genius.

I own 5 albums from Prince and I would have more, but here in Greece for some reason they don't have them all.Maybe they are out of print.I used to hear his albums more in the past but I always appreciate his talent.I didn't like at all the sound of his new album. Also what is the connection between music and if someone is gay.Wake up people, you live in the past.Open your minds and don't become racists.

well..the irony is that he's exactly the opposite..LOL

I dont think any of the people above made that remark. They were both talking about other people's idiotic comments

Thank you Gazza. The racist, homophobic remarks are not those of anyone on this board. As Gazza points out they are remarks made by other people who are neither fans of The Stones or Prince. The only reason they were mentioned in the first place was to point out why people, my mates included, are not fans of either act.

I've got the Purple Rain DVD. On the extras they have some live footage. Really great performer. Hope he tours again this part of the world soon!

exactly it was other people's comments. i could care less what he is but damn in the early 90's the man had 2 girlfriends at one time and they both hung out with him so i doubt he's gay

I think I speak for everyone here when I say WHO CARES? I'd rather talk about his music. So end of subject!

i was listening to that one a lot lately but i still think the 1992 symbol album is the better of the 2 N.P.G. albums. the hip/hop tracks work better on symbol. gold experience isn't credited to the n.p.g. but it is anyways

My first ever record was Purple Rain, so as you can imagine I have a soft spot for that. Still sounds great 20 years later. However it was obviously not his best work. I'd say for a best all round album, you can't beat Sign O' The Times!

i have musicology and 3121. both are great. neither one have a single style throughtout the album like most of his work. its more like sign o the times were each song is a different style. i need to get one called the rainbow children. anyone have that album?

also prince got 5 grammy nominations for the 2007 grammy's for stuff off of 3121

Easy answer for me. 'Sign O The Times'. One of the top 3 or 4 albums of the 80's and one of the greatest double albums ever. I like the Black Album as well - that 1986-88 period was my favourite of his.

Of the later stuff, I really liked a lot of'Emancipation' even if at 3-Cds and 36 songs, its maybe about a disc too long.
