I wanted to send a message in a hurry and it was the best I could do at short notice. As we all know, the song wasn't written by the Stones, so there was less chance of someone else using it already.

In another life I was Evening Son but some computer-related problem arose and, when I tried to post, I was informed that it was another user's name!

Silver Dagger comes from the Simon and Garfunkel song A Simple Desultory Philippic and in it Paul Simon sings "I been Mick Jaggered and Silver Daggered". It's a piss take of a Bob Dylan protest song. Silver Dagger is also an American folk ballad that's been covered by Dylan, Joan Baez, The Eagles and Roger McGuinn.

It was Brian Jones' stage name in the early days. He thought it sounded like the name of a "real" Delta bluesman ala Elmore James.

mariannerl.. because there is already "the" Marianne (my real name) in the stones world. The time I registred on IORR, in 2003, I did not even have pc at home and I did not expect that I will live hours a day in the internet stones world...

But I don't use mariannerl on other boards. My nickname on my own board (stonestreff) is Mrs M and I usually use this name on all other boards. "Mrs" because one member of a certain board always called me Mrs.. there were not many ladies on board .. thats why.

In 1978 I had a group of mates who were all Led Zeppelin fans. I was into the Stones and the Who. That summer, I turned them all onto Some Girls, which they loved, and they started calling me Tatters. It's not an internet name that I made up. It's my ACTUAL nickname. Has been for 31 years.

When I began here I used to work (and sometimes post) in an office overlooking Richmond Green. I got made redundant and I don't work there any more, so really I should pick another one, but I'll save that for the day I get banned. (Bound to happen sooner or later!)

No, mostly just friends that have known me for a long time. It's like if your name is Nick, and everyone calls you Nick, but a friend who's known you since you were 12 still calls you Nicky, because that's what everyone called you when you were 12.

Well, it's a great Beatles song, who doesn't know that, right? It's suppose to be the name of a roller coaster or giant slide at an amusement park in Blackpool, England (have never been there). The rest of the HS story is suppose to be that McCartney had just read an interview with the Who's Pete Townshend and he was going on and on about how the Who had just recorded the loudest, nastiest, raunchiest, out-of-control, piece of music EVER (I Can See For Miles) so Macca put the magazine down and said, "Oh yeah Pete?"..... Not for long. And HS does out do I Can See For Miles IMHO.... I don't know why I picked it, very superficial reasons I'm sure (playing in the background at the moment or something).

The best user name EVER on IORR was "some stupid with a flare gun" (lyrics from the 70's Deep Purple hit "Smoke on the Water" ) Who thinks of brilliant stuff like that? I 'm serious, what a great user name !!!

Years ago I tried to find a user name for eBay. Since I sold & bought mainly Stones stuff I tried something related to the Stones. I tried many names but I always got the answer that this name already existed. Finally I tried this shortened (& unpronounceable) modification of Midnight Rambler - and it worked! Later I used that name also for other Stones related sites, like IORR and others.

I like a lot of names here, but I hate names with only numbers and I prefer simple names so I can easely remember them and picture an imaginary image

It's a large spiral slide that can be found at most funfairs in the UK not just Blackpool.
You climb the stairs, which are inside the structure, and once at the top you take a hessian or coconut mat which you sit on and then slide down the slide.

When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again

Mine came from the movie Blazing Saddles. I also own the screen name of Lapetomane which you have to google to understand that one. Very much tongue in cheek names.
