Great to hear he was on form & surprising that he was even playing at all so soon after the sudden death of his wife.

I hope the tapers bring enough discs, it'll be a 3cd or 4cd set, I hope.

They will also be performing at Fitzgerald's the night of the Stones show in Chicago. Could make for an interesting after show.

If you see him in a smallish venue, bring something for him to sign. He's one of the fan-friendliest, most approachable musicians I've ever encountered.

Mac is one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met, period.

I've seen him live many times, and it always puts a big smile on my face that seems to last for days!

When Ronnie toured with Bo Diddley, Mac was the opening act in L.A. It was at the Palace, a larger venue than the club gigs he usually played.

Back then he played guitar (!) on a lot of the songs, which seems odd when you think of seeing a show by one of rock's premier keyboardists, but he blew the crowd away. His set was really on fire.

Woody walked out after the first encore and put his arm around him, with a "That's my boy!" gesture to the crowd. Sounds great, but at the time I thought it was kind of stinky because Mac could have easily played multiple encores that night.

Years ago I told Mac that his 1980 album Bump In The Night (which the song, "Little Girl" mentioned in the review is on--and that's not even the best song) was far better than the Stones' 1980 release, Emotional Rescue. I told him, "You KICKED THE STONES' ASS that year!!" He couldn't believe it, but thanked me for the complement.

So the Stones better watch out for this guy! Game on!!!

(And please let him do as many encores as he can...)

This is great news. I wish he were opening more than one show, but this is a good start.

Damn right he is a top class geezer. I was chatting with Keith at end of August and he said he'd been in touch with Mac. I reckon the gig is Keith and Ronnie's doing. Good on 'em.

Any NYC/NJers here going to see Mac at Maxwell's in Hoboken? I think it's on Oct. 9th. It's a great little room - I think I'm going to have to ride the PATH for this one.

For the record, all rumors of the 9/27 Giants Stadium show being moved to Maxwell's are false.

Edit: $10 for Mac at Maxwell's! Gotta love it.

Not to start any rumours or wild speculation, but according to his macpages.com site, Mac is also playing a midnight show on Oct 22 at the Continental Club in Austin.

Hmmm.....

That brilliant inopeng-dude suggested the Stones play the Continental Club many many moons ago...perhaps the coolest live music club in the USA...

Ronnie sat in with Mac for a late night gig at the Continental Club in Houston, in December last year.
