The press release indicates there will be multiple formats involved, so maybe a DVD. Keith said that he's going through things he'd forgotten about, so hopefully some unreleased tunes.

There's been tons of discussion about this, but in summary:

We have very reliable reports (e.g. from Courtney Love, of all people, on Twitter) that Mick, Keith and Don Was has been going through Exile outtakes.
Universal's previous Deluxe CDs have been mostly expanded with outtakes.

There have also been theories, wishes and fears, but no real indications (afaik), about the following:

- A newly produced "Making of Exile" documentary
- The '72 live video "Ladies And Gentlemen" on DVD (this might happen because Promotone have been cleaning youtube of clips from only this movie)
- Live videos that are not from the aforementioned movie
- Live audio tracks

Could be:

Montreux '72, the 30 min rehearsals shown on OGWT
L & G outtakes: Happy, All Down The Line, Midnight Rambler already in circulation but may be loads more
Jumpin' Jack Flash from Montreal '72 (shown on Canadian tv)
Brown Sugar & Streetfjghting Man from NYC '72 (from the Dick Cavett show)

Don Was produced Todd Snider's last record. Don played him "Good Time Woman" (the original version of "Tumbling Dice") and said it was going to be on Exile. Todd told me this himself.

What alternate take of "Midnight Rambler" already circulates? I've seen "Happy" and "All Down The Line" from Houston but what MR performance are you talking about?

They should release a 72 show that nobody's ever heard, like Tuscaloosa soundboard or Houston arvo.

<what MR performance are you talking about?>

Probably the bonus version on the L&G DVD from Jointrip

Ladies and Gentlemen in its entirety would be great as a bonus!!! Remember, it's in quad!

Next project should be GOATS HEAD SOUP in a good and clear remix, and my proposals for the bonus material are:

- Tracks from Brussels (quad!!!), Newcastle, London, and Vienna (if they have the soundboard they could realease the four songs which were played once or twice on that tour)

- Movie of one of the shows in London as filmed by the BBC if it still exists (and was not erased for an episode of Teletubbies, like someone said earlier in that forum). Or the Brussels show on video (if it exists)

The indicators we’ll get the remixed original album plus a smattering of live tracks on one CD at the very least. Not that I would define that as deluxe in any sense. On the other hand, we could luck out and get the original CD+some unreleased tracks squeezed on the end. And if they take a leaf out of the Lynryd Skynryd remasters, they’ll add a bonus DVD with archive live video footage. L&G would be great of course. If they play it safe and do a cheap contemporary reminiscences docu like on the ACDC Back in Black dual disk, It’ll be a tad underwhelming.

There is of course plenty of footage from 72/73 to do a decent standalone live DVD…that’s the dream anyway.

Based on the previous Stones releases (Rarities 1971-2003 that hardly contained anything rare, and the recent Get Your Ya Ya's Out reissue with 5 bonus tracks and a wasted amount of empty disc space that could have been used for more tracks), I am not expecting anything special with the Exile "deluxe" edition.

A nice clean copy of CS Blues would be a real showstopper.

-Yeah, agree. I will be very surprised if we get any unreleased live material on the new Exile. Bet they're saving it for either the 50th anniversaty, or even later.

They have to release the interesting stuff soon, it's rapidly losing value in the marketplace. It's only just profitable now.

Is it likely there anything on there that we don;t already have through other sources?

Yes, there's probably tons of soundboards and live video recordings, plus maybe outtakes from CS Blues laying on some shelf somewhere.

A contemporary documentary would probably be a waste of space, time and money.

The real good stuff is, IMHO, the live and CS Blues material. Could easily make a 4 CD box and a double DVD alone.

Prediction - The Stones pull out a vault tune from the era (maybe even one that hasn't been booted), MJ adds new vocals and MT adds new guitar.

I'd be willing to bet there's a magic reel, untouched since 1971 or 72, sealed away somewhere, that has something on it we've never heard. It's a nice dream anyway.

How about MJ's Exile on Main Street Blues piano track that mentioned the song titles?
