One of their best songs ever. I love it. I even like the studio version better b/c it's edgier, and I like Keith's vocals in the background. And i think the bridge is "prettier" in the studio version.

Jagger almost ruined that song for me because of the drum thing. When I hear that song all I can listen for is the perfect beat and wonder why oh why Jagger looped the beat. One of the most useless uses ever of a loop. He's got Charlie Watts right there for cryin out loud. What does he need the machine for? I think it was just for experimentation's sake.
Who played that lead guitar line in the rbudge on B2B? Wachtel or Wood?

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

Who knows? It ain't a funky loop either!
Saint is the only track on B2B that never really convinced me. It's like Joy from goddes. The loop and the absence of Keith gave me a good explanation.

I asked this before, but no answers. I would love to know who plays what on Saint!

Liddas, just curious: what bugs you about "Joy"? I must say I did not mind the song too much at first, even though it all sounds a little forced to me. But once I saw the scene in "Being Mick" of Bono eating a sald with Jagger after recording his tracks in that hotel(?) room the tune doen't do it for me anymore.

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

The same as Saint: something is missing, they sound somehow flat, no groove! But as always, to put it in the right perspective, a bad stones / jagger song is better than most of the stuff you listen around!

Not my fave either and never understood it's anthem status (nor of it's cousin Out of Control). The cheesy bridge is typical of Jaggers lesser '90's and '00's efforts, you hear it coming from a mile.

"Music is the frozen tapioca in the ice chest of history."

"Shit!... No shit, awright!"

It's not really an anthem - only one song from the '90s is . . . and it's not even as good as Saint Of Me!

A song that has a stadium of 50.000 singing at full voice is an anthem in my book!

And it was a NEW song then! Fantastic, together with OOC.

Always thought this song would have been so much cooler if Mick sang the verses and Keith sang the choruses (Never make a saint of me .... or a lumberjack!)

I always hated that "hip-hop lite" beat. Almost a good song.

The song has great lyrics. When Mick wants to write really meaningful lyrics he can. I think this song is incredibly underrated. I hope it's remembered in the future more for its great video, great studio arrangement and well thought out lyrics and message instead of the sing a longs and that fact that it's from the 90's. Just because it's not a song written prior to 1981 doesn't mean it's a bad song. I think most of you nay-sayers are just quit to judge and don't really give the new songs much consideration. I think songs like Love is Strong, Saint of Me, Out of Control and Out of Tears are just as good as anything they've ever done. If you want to put songs like She's So Cold, Shattered, Honky Tonk Women and Play With Fire in the classics book, then I see no reason why the songs I just mentioned shouldn't be in there too. THey're just as good, they just weren't written when the boys were still party animals. Maybe Mick might be more willing to play more modern songs if he weren't reading all the negative comments on this board.

Because it's the Bigger Bang tour, so decided to do mostly songs from their newest album....not their old albums.
