I don't want to go to America and be called a capitalist bastard because of what the tickets cost. In '69, I didn't know what the tickets were costing. You just go and play some music and when you get there you find out and you're in the deep end already. What were you paying in '66 to see us? Because I don't want to make the prices so high that there is a whole stratum of kids that can't afford to see us. They're probably the funkiest kids, you know? They're the ones that would come and dig to see it and have a good time at doin' it too. - Keith Richards, 1971

His quote goes to show that it is easy to be an anti-capitalist....as long as you don't make any major money....
How does a rock tour pay for a seven story stage, tons and tons of sound and lights, 30 semis to transport it and a staff well in excess of 300 people who require transportation, feeding and hotel rooms?
By charging $60 to $450 a ticket. Sure the Stones themselves are getting rich but the above mentioned accoutrements aren't free.
I remember Keith once saying that the new (Steel Wheels or Voodoo Lounge days) high prices were because of scalpers getting $300 per ticket and the band figured, they were doing the show, why shouldn't they make the money instead of some skeegy guy who woke up early one morning and got a good space in line, or hired homeless people to hold spaces and buy good seats.

I thought the corporate sponsorship was supposed to cover all that. At least that's the excuse that's been given.
