I hope jagger & bono don't do

joy

from goddess in the doorway

a lame song

I think its a pretty safe bet that if two of the biggest musical superstars on the planet are going to duet at a star-studded and very expensively priced event, then the choice of song(s) will be something that more than about 0.1% of the audience will have heard before.

No, but apparently an HBO broadcast of the 'best of' the shows will be shown in late November.

This has just been posted on www.rockhall25.com:

"PLEASE NOTE THAT THE JEFF BECK BAND ALONG WITH SOME SPECIAL GUESTS ARE GOING TO BE TAKING OVER THE SECTION THAT ERIC CLAPTON ORIGINALLY WAS ANCHORING BEFORE HIS UNFORTUNATE HOSPITAL STAY. EVERONE IS WORKING HARD TO MAKE THIS AMAZING AND TO FIT INTO WHAT IS ALREADY GOING TO BE AN GREAT NIGHT WITH ARETHA FRANKLIN, METALLICA AND U2. THERE WILL BE SOME REAL SPECIAL GUESTS THAT NIGHT SO IT WILL BE TERRIFIC!

NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN."

While no one can really replace Clapton, I think this is a good choice. Elsewhere, I read that Clapton's segment was going to concentrate on the Blues and Jeff certainly has the chops.

I was at the opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in september 1995. Saturday the 2nd there was a benefit concert with an incredible roster of the rock and roll greats performs—Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Al Green, Jerry Lee Lewis, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Cash, The Pretenders, John Fogerty, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, George Clinton, the Kinks, John Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen, Booker T. and the MG’s, Eric Burdon and Martha Reeves. They played on a revolving stage which helped save time between acts (just a couple of minutes). It was just fantastic!
I love the Rock and Roll of Fame.
Rock and Roll,
Mops

I've been told by a usually good source that Mick Jagger will be duetting with Bono on the 30th October show.

Great to hear...I hope it happens. Have you heard anything else about this? I'd love for Keith to show up too!

True Jeff has chops but his "chops" are no longer in the blues format.

as great as eric is, i'd personally much rather see Jeff Beck anyway.
Beck still out on every edge. eric, as great as he is, not so much...for a long time now...still brilliant player don't ever get me wrong...but jeff the better bet for me personally.

With Eric Clapton not being able to perform, Jeff Beck is the perfect stand in. A former Yardbird with razor sharp skills to this very day. One of the few performers that seems to still be expanding his technical skills. Beck could easily slip on his blues shoes for the night and put on one helluva show. It will certainly be one of the highlights. George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic will be another personal highlight for me.

One never knows about the Rolling Stones. It may be a hush, hush thing until they walk out on stage. That would leave everyone quite stunned now wouldn't it?

George Clinton is playing tomorrow??! Cool!! Are you going, CBII? See you there!

Latest on Jeff Beck from www,rockhall25.com:

JEFF BECK PERFORMANCE
OCTOBER 28TH, 2009
Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top is flying in from their tour in England to join Jeff and his band on stage Friday night. Also there will be a surprise vocalist joining them for a song as well.

I don't think so. Although it would be a sight to see.

Who picked Billy Gibbons to sit in with Jeff Beck? I guess it will be ok as long as there's no challenge / response. Billy's in for a real spanking if that happens.

As I mentioned earlier, Mick is definitely performing. Its now official (although with Clapton's withdrawal, this poster is a bit out of date)

I thought the RnR HOF started in 1986 inducting, amongst other, Elvis Presley as the first group.

Nope. The BROADCAST is November 29th. This is an HBO commercial.

There are two shows, Oct 29&30. The artists listed appear over the two nights.

No problem. I should however have clarified originally that the poster related to the broadcast, not the event itself.

The HBO broadcast on 29/11/09 is a four hour special, I'm led to believe.

That was the first ceremony, although the foundation started in 1983.

Maybe they're just being a bit belated with the 25th anniversary show!

Gazza, many thanks for the heads-up!

Sorry I didn't get back to your text but John Paul was over for the footy and things got quite hectic. I literally haven't had a second to myself these last few days!

If Beast asks, tell her we'll text her as soon as we reach our hotel some time tomorrow around noon.

BTW, the entire Tunnel Of Love album will do me just fine!

no live internet stream? that's kinda lame.

Smokey Robinson joins Stevie, and they sing “Tracks of my Tears.”

that right there is worth the price of admission alone, in my opinion.
