No..The Maracana is "le stade du champion de la monde" smiling smiley

Wasnt at SDF in 2003, but I was there in 1998 (when it WAS the 'stade du chmapion..') and the sound was great

What a fantastic show that was, too. Even though (because the 2nd show was cancelled) the pitch was TOO packed!

Great sound if you are on the pitch. So-so, if you are seated. Gazza, it was overcrowded in 1999, because they had to cancel the 2nd show ( only 35,000 tickets sold out of a capacity of 80,000 ) and thus part of the audience from the 2nd show were able to attend the 1st show on the pitch.

Yes I know it's not le stade du champion du monde now. But, I just remembered Mick saying that.
The pitch was packed indeed. Saw that from where I was sitting and "enjoying" a alcoholfree beer.

yep...remember it well..a friend had got me tickets for both shows but of course we only got one in the end

I was amazed they were allowed to let everyone in. I've never been at a show that was so crowded. I was about 10 metres in front of the b-stage and stood for eight hours before the Stones came on. It was literally physically impossible to sit down at any time the entire day because there was no room.

I didnt have much luck that summer. I had tickets for the 4 UK shows and both Paris gigs and every show apart from one Paris show got cancelled (in the UK, they were postponed for a year). One out of my six 1998 shows took place that year!

Amazed too. Estimated crowd was beween 100,OOO and 90,000 people. Too dangerous somewhere. But the Stones were the first artist, local or foreign, to play the Stade de France. I would have hoped they did the same for Wembley II. Hope to see you this year on 3rd, June. France love The Stones with a kind of love and hate relationship.

Paris is a long shot, to be honest as I'm on holiday in Italy the week before it

However, I'll DEFINITELY be in Nice in August

The sound in 2003 was not so good. The guitars were very low.
Maybe that's beacause both Keith and Ronnie were drunk.
Actually that was not a good show.

In 1998, it was much better. The soundboard recording of this show is great.

I would love to see soundboard like this one from recent shows.

Are there any soundboard available from the ABB tour ?

The sound cannot be defined as an ultimate value, it depends where you are in that giant stadium. But 80'000 people is always impressive. The network is pretty good to reach the stadium by public transportation.
Have fun
