This ain't a bad version

No bad version, but prefer Stones in whatever way - a very slow / boring version. Mick's singing is way better, the dynamic in Stones versions is way better.

Stones formula is: never play the same song in the same way.

Compared to Bruce - it is still not Las Vegas time yet.

mtaylor - I would never prefer to hear Bruce singing Satisfaction over the Stones he does not come close to a bad version of Mick singing it, just saying not a bad attempt to cover one of the all-time classics. It is not often that I will listen to anyone cover a Stones song I usually say you should not f with them.

i like Bruce a lot of people on this board do not I think he plays a fantastic show and has many fine albums. He should quit with his politicing though!

Guy is so cool! Took over the position as best rocking stadium artist for sure in my humble opinion.
He played the request 'Pretty woman' in Munich. Big fun.

Mick and Ron cannot even play a non rehearsed Stones song I am afraid....
yeah and springsteen cant either without those teleprompters hes looking at. Thats why theres a delay before they do the request spot, its so that the people backstage can look up the song with the chords and lyrics, and put it on everyones prompter.
Shoot, even elton got caught using a teleprompter, he was using it for his own songs. I know the stones have used em before.

Not the first time the Boss has covered a Stones tune. I got a boot that he does Street Fighting Man. Pretty da.. good.

Can be seeen here : Springsteen in Greenville

So just two numbers in the show then ? Satisfaction ... plus presumably the customary two hour barrage of the same song repeated two dozen times, whatever it was ? A right bargain then.

It is a great version! It is not really fair to compare it with the Stones, since this is a very spontaneous thing. Of course the Stones are the Stones, but who else would be able to just get it as a request and play it so well? The E-Street Band are all great musicains and this is one of the many proofs. Sure that the Stones can do much better version, but to be honest on the ABB tour it was most of the times much worse. This particular song was mostly really bad during the ABB. But I don't want to bash the Stones, I personally enjoyed the tour. Just want to say that the Boss kicks ass...

A homage is a homage, and that's it.

I think Bruce does it with a humble, respectful attitude, not trying to make it too "Bruce-like" or over-interpret it. And of course, to know how to play it is no rocket-science - I'm sure Bruce himself have repeared to perform it since he picked up listening to rock and roll and playing the guitar, like most - or all - of, say, people in their forties and beyond who might have a slight idea of playing the guitar and sing rock... EVERYBODY knows THAT song... (so that's my two cents what goes for being impressed of their "spontanious" ability to play a Stones song...) We hear better versions of it every Saturday at our local bar. And the whole idea that anyone could outdo MIck and Keith with "Satisfaction" is ridiculous - that's the song they BREATH...

Just an ignorant statement!

Nothing to freak out about, I mean it is just a cover song by an artist. If and when we want to hear it in original, we will be happy to have it with the Stones. Until then, just let the Bruce fans enjoy it as a cover version. No harm. No reason to start a war or fights because of a cover song...

No, a statement perfectly in keeping with my opinion that the bulk of the man's material sounds depressingly similar and boring, at least to my ears. Obviously not to yours ? Fair enough.

Pauly got it right. Just about every song sounds the same to me too.

great comeback. So, if an artist covers a song by another artist, that makes that artist automatically inferior.

Thats your logic.

Considering the Stones have covered over 100 songs by other artists, that doesnt say much for them.

Yep. Not real complicated or argument worthy. Just a nice fun cover.

I'd LOVE to hear the Stones do a cover version of Jungleland!

It would take them a year just to rehearse it.

Bruce has done Stones covers for a long time,l have him doing JJF,HTW,SFM,and a few others, but that doesn't make him inferior to the Stones,he is just a fan and digs their material.
On the other hand The Stones probably couldn't play any Bruce's songs,l can just see them trying BTR,or even Rosalita,l mean Bruce sells out as many shows as The Stones and he sells much more records.

If this comes to the match who is able to cover others and who can not, I guess The Stones wouldn't be able to cover Bon Jovi either:

Yes, excellent point.

By contrast, the Stones setlists seem to be written by their accountants.

Apparently he enjoyed playng it so much the other night. HE played it again tonight in Des Moines. Their is apparently a movement by people on BTX to get Bruce to play Gimmie Shelter. Their is HUGE crossover of people who enjoy both Springsteen and the Stones. When I was back east recently to see Bruce I wore a Stones t-shirt and talked to a lot of fans who love both Brue and The Stones. Does'nt have to be a mutually exclusive deal.
