What will happen when the Stones finally call it a day? Will there be mass suicides on this messageboard? It's rather amusing to read how people have reacted to this Charlie story. Did anyone take the day off work to recover?

But you can't find this "official" annoucmencment anywhere else. In fact, the only official word that we have is that Charlie never quit.

Translation: that's hardly an official announcement.

Based on what Fred? An "official" announcement that has not officially been made?

I'm troubled by the use of the word "official." It gives the rumour credibility, and at the same time it's the least credible part of the rumour, as the only official word is that the rumour is a fabrication.

I have not read the whole 16 pages. Sorry. But I stick to this simple idea that as long as Mick is willing, then Keith and Charlie will keep going. The Stones are something well above their own person. They know this. They are faithfull to their audience that made them where they are. For the better and worse.

No knock against BV, but I recall that he's posted things in the past that he attributed to a reliable source that didn't pan out so StonesDoug somewhat supporting the poster on his board doesn't make it any more likely to be true as far as I'm concerned.

At this point, until I see/hear Charlie make a statement one way or the other, I'm not going to get too worked up over any of this. I do rather enjoy following along, though!

In the meantime, here's one of my favorite photos of Charlie. It's powerful, dark & disturbing and shows him to be very distant; not really there, if you will. It's a look that he has a lot in candid shots.

I'm not sure who to credit. I seem to recall that it was from the EOMS recording period, so maybe Dominique Tarle??
