Remake some old albums?

One thing great about Stripped is the songs they remake: Wild Horses, Not Fade away, Spider and Fly, Etc...

Stripped Companion is also great.

I would love to see the Stones remake Exile, Sticky or Bleed. Wouldn't it be great to hear them re-record Rocks Off, Torn and Frayed, Gimme Shelter or Dead Flowers? To hear their different takes on songs 30 - 40 years later?

Absolutely NO, they would become like Chuck Berry who re-recorded his own songs quite a few times....just to squeeze another dollar out of his own legacy.

Never! Stripped was semi-re-recorded, I didn´t like the idea. It´s always like "They have no ideas anymore".

Some of the tracks are interesting, though.

So, I take it you guys hate stripped then? You must think that the songs they re-recorded on there just suck.

I would much rather have a re-recorded album then none or a live one. Would you not?

No I don't hate it. I just don't think they should do it again.

You'd see how much they've declined.

So, this is nite we all post thing unheard of before.

This is the first time I hear that "they´ve declined" since 1995
& in another thread here loads of dudes post that Chuck a necessity;
every day since Tuesday last week I´ve heard the opposite.

Alright... Now I see, this here aint news, it is...
"The same procedure".

Forget PC. The Stones have lost it.
They might as well throw in the towel.
And tickets are too expensive.
And I have an aching tooth.

No not a real good idea Sladog...I mean it's like returning to an old girl freind. The cave where you once played is not the same the second time around, because suddenly you see all the ancient writing on the walls.

XM Radio has a great series called "Then Again...Live" where an old band goes in and performs an entire album live in the studio. Usually it's kind of a novelty thing with the likes of Alice Cooper or Cheap trick. The most notable exception is The Allman Brothers Band performing "Eat A Peach". They deliver a flawless reproduction with some new twists. Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks put their own stamp on variations of theh classic Dickie/Duane solos, and Greg even sings "Blue Sky". It is one of my favorite performances of the year!

That being said, I was wondering what album The Stones should attempt in that setting. I think "Let It Bleed" would probably be their best bet since they have done so much of it live recently, and that the absence of one Mick Taylor wouldnt be quite as obvious on that one as it would on their other "golden era' albums.

Of course, they could get really wierd and do "Now" or "England's Newest Hitmakers". That might actually be more interesting!

So, what album do we want tho hear the Stones do on "Then Again...Live"?
