Who were the Stones enablers?

I'm sure you've all been reading about Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's doc. Did the Stones have a doctor that traveled with them back in the seventies? What other artists besides Elvis and Brian Wilson and Jackson did this? Just wondering.

Now there's an interesting question! I recall some account--maybe Robert Greenfield--from the '72 US tour that described the tour doctor and his bag of goodies...apparently he succumbed to a drug of another sort, the Stones' entourage of groupies.

Led Zeppelin had a doctor on the 1977 US tour.
And, according to some books (take it for what you will), he worked with the Stones on previous tours. I think I have a photo of this doctor in some book
on Zeppelin. He looks like he's fresh out of med school. No Marcus Welby,
that's for sure.

Ronnie had a rehab specialist travel with them on ABB.

To call Freddy Sessler an enabler is really wrong. He was a "hanger-on" during the 70's and 80's. Was also a very friendly fellow who had a very hard life.

The Stones had a steady series of hangerson/drug dealers over the years. Hardly the same as Jackson or Elvis who had what were supposed to be "real" doctors who just supplied them with whatever prescription meds they wanted.

In an interview, one of Keith's daughters made reference to a man named Roy, who lives on Keith's estate and whom she described as Keith's best friend. My guess is this is Keith's bagman. Perhaps someone here can fill us in on this.

Sorry if I gave a wrong impression. I don't even know the meaning of the word enabler. I simply responded to a question. Freddy was a good friend of Keith.

Actually, there are those who would certainly consider Freddie Sessler to have been an enabler. In Bill German's recent book, he describes how Mick's support staff on tour grew to dislike Sessler because it was known that in addition to sharing drugs with Keith, he was supplying him with the drugs that rendered Keith incapable of fulfilling his obligations on the tour.

Well, opinions are divided here.
But Sesslers originally contact to Keith/ Stones was mostly due to his exceptional coke connections.

And The Stones had a real doc with them on USA tour in the 70's too.

Of course Sessler was an enabler. Anything to stay with the crowd.

Freddy Sessler was who he was. The only thing that bothers me about these types of threads is that he has family.

I met Roy a few times. He always had on a velour suit. He was on the staff at Keith's homes. Never said much just sat and drank.

After so many years in the limelight behind the Stones and doing what he - and his son - did, nobody will care much about some postings on a Stones-fanboard . . .

Interesting!
This thread raises another question, apart from roadies how many people are on a stones tour these days and what do they do?
I'm talking about doctors, pr people, assistance etc.

Cheers,
Wuudy

I think Roy's "official" job was to take care of Keith's Father when he was still alive?

He is a good one for Ronnie to stay away from! :>)
