Thanks for that smorgasbord of choices UrbanSteel! Watching both the Atlantic City and Saitama versions (and everything in between) really highlights the best of the modern-day Stones. I think those versions, while totally different, hold up just as well with their older stuff. Keith and Charlie, in particular, are brilliant, and Mick always brings in a stellar vocal performance on MR. Don't get how anyone can watch those and then dismiss the boys as a 'Vegas-act.'
And one more thing--while Taylor's presence is missed in comparison to 72-73 versions, isn't it pretty awesome to see Keith out front a little bit more on guitar? Keith's playing is pushed aside by MT's virtuoso performances, so its nice to see him showing what he can do on these more modern versions (and he comes through, in my opinion).
JMoisica, you definitely get it. "Midnight Rambler" was (is) a masterpiece featuring the three key members -- Mick, Keith & Charlie. It was true on the 1969 studio version, and revisited in the 2006 version. All the lead guitar doodling, whether by MT or Ronnie, was simply icing on the cake.
