I have often come across the term "thermal" when discussions arise regarding CDs and whats best etc. Is someone out there who could enlighten me on this term, thanks in advance. Vive La Stones.

Thermal is a printing process for CDRs. Bootlegs labels Sister Morphine and Pignose Records are using Mitsui Gold Thermal CDRs, which means CDRs are printed directly on the top, looks like silver discs.

Thanks Paintitblak, is this too expensive for the home consumer to use, as against my printer I use on printable CDs, white gloss/matte/silver. Are gold printable CDs available. I have searched the web for them but no luck. Thanks for the info you have given me.

It's kind of expensive, about $4000 for a Rimage thermal printer.
Mitsui Gold CDRs unbranded and thermal printable are hard to find.
That's the reason I believe bootlegs labels such as Sister Morphine and Pignose Records are collectable, even if they are CDR (gold thermal printer CDR)
