How about the worst songs on Exile, which would be everything besides Rocks Off, Rip This Joint, Tumbling Dice, Sweet Virginia, Happy, and All Down the Line. Outside of those 6 songs, the rest of the album sucks.

Torn and Frayed and Let it Loose in a dead heat.

Exile is easily my favorite Stones album....and one I love on vinyl. Every side revealed a bit more. Not a weak spot on it.

Truly the one album by ANY band that I never get tired of. If I ever get shipwrecked, the island better have a turntable and this record.

I'm glad Casino Boogie gets a mention finally, this tune seems to sum up the whole album vibe for me.

I've been getting into JWTSHF a lot recently, as well as Hip Shake - great tunes.

Let It Loose is brilliant of course. Anyone else noticed how If You Really Want To Be My Friend is almost a rewrite of Let It Loose?

The two songs I'm not so keen on are Ventilator Blues and Soul Surviver, they seem a bit laboured to me, however 95% of the album is brilliant so that's fine by me.

And talking of similar tunes - Dancing With Mr D has a vague similarity (in tone and vibe) to Ventilator Blues, anyone agree?

Too many songs I love on this album...Rocks Off, Rip This Joint, Loving Cup, Soul Survivor, All Down the Line, Shine a Light, Ventilator Blues, etc...

1 sweet virginia,2 all down the line,3 tumbling dice,4 rocks off,5 loving cup,6 happy,7 shine a light.

I love Happy. Pity the live versions always seemed a bit mangled.

it is difficult to say what is 'best' since listening to music is so personal and subjective..but my favorites (for now, anyway, since my favorites on Exile tend to change and morph; every song has been on my favorites list at least once if not 100 times)..but today my favorites are Loving Cup (that one never changes), Let It Loose (watched dvd of 'Beyond The Sea' recently - the story of Bobby Darin as played by Kevin Spacey - and that song appeared in it and BAM!, back on the favorites list it went - that's all it takes sometimes..) .. Casino Boogie, dig Keith yelping and Charlies highhat outro..and Soul Survivor.. which is currently my favorite Stones track to play on guitar in open G..

I digress, but I saw what looked like a recent Taylor interview during which he said "For reasons known only to Jagger and Richards I got song credit on VB." He said he did not have much to do with that one and contributed much more on other songs.

It's gotta be 'appy for me.

Does anyone know where the live version on CS Blues was recorded? Now That's What I Call Rock Music...
