This is one of those "independent" special editions wherein a third party, in this case GENEON (not Virgin) purchases large quantities of a given title and repackages it along with some silly trinket or geegaw i.e. Mick's conversation with the Japanese guy and the t-shirt. Nothing new to see or hear here. Move along.

Oh, goody. Something else for those afflicted with Obsessive Completist Disorder.

I know what you mean BUT they are just issuing material that is new and as they are now, I know the songs are not new but the way they are played live at the time it was recorded are so maybe that is why they put out these DVD's. I'm sure if they put out stuff from the archives it would sell so maybe there are other reasons that they don't release them, it can't be money because I'm sure they would make them millions!

looks like a nice package and all that...i'd not be too interested personally unless they brought ron up in the mix...mebbe a little less of chuck in the mix...but certainly missed the weave in this set...a tad frustrating as i think there IS a good mix in there somewhere...oh well...lookin' real forward to a new album tho! i'm a diehard i guess...

...and yes it's a shame that a lot of unreleased stuff that really is sterling, has yet to see an 'official' release by the stones organization themselves...but what the hey we already have a lot of great boots. still a ton of unreleased live stuff from all eras that really powers up that i would love love to have in great fideltiy and in all it's rawness.... jist personally not too excited about this. just an opinion. i think ron is the secret hero of this set and his side of the stereo spectrum seems mighty unrepresented.

would have been a gas if RJ and something else more current had been added. RJ sounded great at superbowl imo. don't know why they took that instant classic out of the set after the early going last tour.

Buy it? Ungrateful!? That's very silly of you. What's ungrateful is more of the same from the Stones - they certainly allowed it to happen. We would all be grateful if they released something that is actually interesting - finished studio unreleased takes, B-sides, different edits and mixes of singles, etc...like that version of, oh crap, what was it? Bitch? Sway? Whatever was the B-side to Wild Horses.

My guess is it is an official bootleg of SAL. Ha ha.

This whole re-release really was a terrifically missed opportunity. At the very least we should have had a separate disc accompanying each studio album with all the b-sides on it (from the latter years) and a classic concert for the earlier albums.

The packaging on this SAL version is great - far better than the lousy cover that was officially released. I've not seen anyone definitely answer as to whether or not this is a boot or an official release? Does anyone know anything about this company releasing it? Do they normally release boots? Or are they legit?

It can't be a bootleg with all that copyright material on it. Mick and Scorsese would have slapped down an unofficial release in a second.

Well then, we've been had!!

The box is better than the movie AND the album.
