Can artists choose whether to accept a nomination?
And i don't mean turn up to collect an award - but just refuse it (like you can refuse a Knighthood (Gcool smiley

The reason KISS aren't in is because they aren't rock - they are imitation rock. They're the longest living joke in the history of rock.

Oh yeah - and they're terrible.

Oh really! Deuce, Cold gin,Strutter, Detroit rock city, Love gun.....a joke!

skipstone you are the joke

Redundant discussion, really. Bottom line is that the RnRHoF isnt strictly tied to rock n roll, and many of the inductees have links that are at best tenuous, or as you say 'can be seen as tilting'...(which is a matter of personal interpretation). Folks getting outraged because they dont care for a certain act's music or style of music is a bit pointless, as the whole thing is pretty meaningless anyway.

yep but Gazza, don't you at least need to be able to perform LIVE to be a "rock n roll legend" Madonna is a mime artist

Nicky Hopkins should have been in there a long time ago, in the "sidemen" category - for his piano playing with the Stones, the Who, the Kinks, the Jeff Beck Group, the Beatles, & Zeppelin!!! (to name just a few bands who's recordings he played on).

So Elvis shouldnt be in the RnRHoF for not writing songs even though he all but popularised the entire genre?

Bit of a myth anyway. From hher album credits, she co-writes her songs and seems to sing live, going by what I've seen. Not that I'm overly impressed, but thats another story.

i don't think talent is a qualifier. there's a hall of talent for that. or maybe not.

I know you didnt, but you mentioned songwriting (or lack of it) as a reason for exclusion.

as Madonna is probably the biggest narcissist in showbiz this side of Michael jackson, I doubt it.

Elvis died on her 19th birthday too, so she probably thinks thats some kind of sign of how special she is

Speaking of Cie.... girls! girls! girls!
If you have an American Rag Cie store near you, get yourself over there straight away. The other day I picked up one of these necklaces that are like a flexible snake/rope type thing, reminiscent of what Anita wore. They come in silver, pewter (also bracelets). I have been searching for one of these for awhile. Saw one months ago in a vintage store but it was too pricey. Thank God I didn't buy it as the ones at Am Rag Cie cost a song, a pittance. I wore it out and about the other night and got more compliments than I can count.
Sorry for the segue.
Guys - you can ask re snake rings
winking smiley
You know this is coming...
I would like the RnRHoF to offer a category for muse. That's right. Some special honor for their influence on a band.
