Did he actually say why these will be his last dates in the UK?
Did anyone ask him?
What do his creditors feel about this?

Can anyone make my year and let me know the pre-sale code?

The casino's in Vegas catch wind of that type of demand and it's on! All he needs to do is show up, execute ALL the concerts in London and get paid.

Extending the number of dates at the O2 should mean an addendum to the existing contract. I see an opportunity here for an act to open for him and get some enormous exposure. That would be a dream contract! If there is an opener and everything works as I see it. World fame will be the result for them.

As far as the outrageous ticket gouging going on a sucker is born every minute. No one is worth 10,000 units of any type of currency. However, someone with that type of disposable income will pay it. It's good to see the official site is selling the tickets at face value.

Unless someone can actually point to an article or interview with a direct quote of him never playing in the UK again, I take that as speculation. Even with the ridiculous tax charges he's still walking away with oil tankers filled with money.

Got me a couple of floor seats (mid to front area) for £75 a piece - i'd say that's pretty good value considering.

(please don't judge me too harshly!)

I guess it depends whether you believe what you read in the papers...

Why would you pay to see him - great hits and a cracking live show. Simple.

I got side of stage (Block 112) for £75, but near the back. Not bad, however, considering that three rows further forward they cost £795!!

To some its just great entertainment, others love the music. Some of his stuff is sheer genius.

Remember, he's sold over 100,000,000 records over the course of his career. Thriller being one of the largest selling of all time. Remove all the negative press over the past ten years or so and the man would have still been one of the top selling touring acts. He's performed on just about every continent, been treated like a king and and the music has transcended every demographic strata.

U2 and many other bands that regularly get slammed right here on IORR have a big following. Some don't agree with Bono's politics or think his head it the size of a Watermelon BUT the music has stood the test of time and concert ticket sales has still been VERY strong.

I've had my fill of this s**t. Concerts shouldn't be about pre-sales and codes. Scalpers on Ebay are offering 2 crap tictets for 4,000 dollars. How can Ticketmaster, O2 or Michael justify that. Surely there is a way to stop this from happening? I'm a genuine life-time fan and have missed out

Agreed 100%, iamthedj. But it's way too early to give up!! Most of the seats in the presale were the crappiest ones right at the back and up in the gods. Nothing new there, yet we still fall for this presale hype every time. The hope is that there'll be better ones available in the public sale. And I still can't believe they'll sell that many for £795, so those will start dropping nearer the time. Hang on in there!!

you know there's a lot to be said for hanging on til nearer the time. I was mulling over some Tina Turner tickets the other day (before it got postponed with her flu) at sheffield arena (was meant to be tomorrow night) and there were dead centre, floor, row 3 tickets to be had on the arena's website. These were £100 seats so I passed, but 'best available' £100 seats a few weeks back on the same site were lower tier, about half way back. So, bit o a risk, but some great seats do get dropped nearer the date....

Absolutely correct. They always hold back some really good seats and let them go very close to the date of the performance. Don't touch anything the scalpers have the night of the show, you might be getting counterfeits.

This reminds me of the final years of Elvis.
People would still pay to see The King -even though he was a shadow of his former self.
Perhaps its a case of "one final time".
Of course, as in the world of sport, never again doesn't necessarly mean just that.
But it will sell some extra tickets.

Having seen him in his heyday on the Bad, Dangerous and the one after tours, I am not going to pay a crazy price to see him this time around. There is a fascination to see if he can still deliver a decent show however so I will be there!

i believe the pedophilia accusations...and am surprised that
this thread does not read more like the short-lived Ted Kennedy/Chappaquiddick thread. Is OJ Simpson performing at the O2 arena too?

Not that I'd be tempted, but I have to say his ticket prices are very reasonable.

I wonder would that have been the case had these shows taken place a year or two ago?

Maybe that plus the U2 tour price structure are signs that the music business is acknowledging that its bitten off more than it can chew in terms of price gouging.

<<< but I have to say his ticket prices are very reasonable >>>

You might wanna retract that. It would appear as if the first 15 rows of the FOS A blocks are incorportated into these £795 VIP packages, but far far worse, so are the first 20 rows (A through T) of the lower tiers, and that does not appear to be limited to blocks near the stage (like 101 and 112 for example) ... but gobsmackingly enough - all the way round the bloody arena.

Makes Cohl look like an amateur !!

Jackson dates stretch into 2010

[news.bbc.co.uk]

Michael Jackson said these shows will be his last in the UK

Michael Jackson's residency at London's O2 arena will continue well into 2010 after the singer added more dates to his farewell tour.

The veteran pop star will now play 45 nights at the venue, with seven shows planned for January and February.

Pre-sale tickets for Jackson's first ten dates sold out on Tuesday but some fans complained of "technical problems" trying to register online.

Ticketmaster director Chris Edmonds said demand was "unprecedented".

He added: "Unfortunately due to a technical issue, we were unable to facilitate all immediate ticket requests. Apologies to those fans who were unable to log on, but fans should keep on trying to purchase tickets."

Additional codes are being issued, the organisers said, with registration being dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

The pre-ticket sale will close later with the rest of the tickets going on sale to the general public from 0700 GMT on Friday.

Tickets for the Jackson shows are already being sold on the online auction website eBay.

Prices on the site range from £170 to £10,000, but tickets bought directly from the singer's website or Ticketmaster cost up to £75.

The final date listed on the singer's website is 18 February 2010.

Jackson, who has won 13 Grammy awards, has said this will be the last time he will perform in the UK.

In August and September 2007, Prince played 21 concerts at the O2 arena together with a number of aftershows at its club venue, Indigo.

Which row though Adrian ? Within rows A through T, or in U/V/W/X/Y/Z ? Curious to know, because judging by what I've been offered (and I haven't devoted much time or energy to this I must admit) - I think that £75 doesn't even get you any "lower" than row U in the lower tiers ALL the way around the arena - but I might be wrong ?
