Auburn 1969 - we have recording...maybe?
Posted by: Eleanor Rigby ()

OK, reading one of the great magazines of the Stones, i focussed in on the classic Stones pic from Auburn 1969...when Keith is playing the final chords of Street Fighting Man...classic. Anyway, was looking at the crowd and thought - wow, this guy has a microphone in his hand!!!!

Now, Auburn 1969 is one of the most elusive shows from the Tour - we have never heard of this show even in taping circles.....so far nothing....but looking at this picture it seems like this guy is taping the show...check out the guy inside the red box..it's either a microphone or a dildo !

i'm amazed this has never been mentioned before...considering such a well-know pic !

thoughts?

Its been 40 years and no tape has surfaced...yet. Maybe that was Drake taping that show!!

Some have even denied the existance of the shows. I say put a large ad in the Auburn newspaper to try to flush out the elusive tape from either the early or late show on November 14, 1969.

Definitely a dildo.
Or maybe it's just the real thing; if that guy in the glasses was really crouched together getting kind of a reach-over from the chick in the headband...could also explain Keith's body language "Oh hell no!"

the guy has similarities to the "Altamont Taper"....

Well Eleanor Rigby, this thread right here could tie into that other one about the "Vault" too. The Auburn 69 show, or Denver 72 would make some awesome addition to Stones' world.

No Drake-hating allowed. He's a great guy and I don't think he was even born in 1969.

5 string, on the other hand, was there. Maybe he could help.

It looks it was here.

It is still in place.

I like old arenas.

Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum is a 10,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Auburn, Alabama. The arena opened in 1969. It is home to the Auburn University Tigers men's and women's basketball teams and women's gymnastics team. The building's exterior is primarily nondescript concrete, but its entry plaza is recognizable for the large "War Eagle" statue which also faces not only the rest of the university, but also nearby Jordan-Hare Stadium. A new arena is currently under construction

The First Concert I ever attended. Turn 16 two weeks later. Would love if this show would surface! New to the Forum, I have visited the site often over the past couple of years. The best place for Stones fans! BTW, If memory serves me well another young man was in attendance that night. His first of many Stones shows, Chuck Leavell.

Whoa, deeppurple, you were at the Auburn show? If so, can you give us some more info about it. So little is written or known about this show, it's like it took place in China rather than Alabama.

Greetings from the Jersey Shore.

The show was not that different from any of the boots I have heard. The same set list as most of the other shows. Started with "JJF" and closed with"SFM." They did "Prodigal son" & "You've gotta move". Like everybody who saw them that tour "Midnight Rambler" is the one that floored me. You could not take your eyes off of Mick Jagger. Keith was the man that night. His playing was sublime. Mick Taylor was good but like Bill he seem to stay out of the spotlight. Charlie was the same as always. I don't think he has ever had a bad night. I came away from that concert a changed person. Have only missed one tour since then. I was in Europe when they toured in 1972. Hey! Nobody's perfect....

And then Mick Taylor told them, "Hey F You"! Classic, what a true Stone!!!!
