maybe it was - we'll run that past the judges and let you know....

SBD on Exile is s one of my alltime fave ongs...and Cray is one of my alltime fave artists....and so it's not surprising that this one-off version in Miami is among my biggest alltime.....disappointents. something went terribly awry that night....

I should have said "In theory" it should have been similar. Mick was offbeat and it just didn't gel.

true....another song that is in the same general vein and one that worked much better as a one-off: reed's shame shame shame at the double door...a song that should have been a staple that tour...

I love the '95 version. I always wondered if the solo was indeed overdubbed.
The cd TY version doesn't do that much for me though.

Cheers,
Wuudy

'The cd TY version'? What, as opposed to the LP? The album? The vinyl record? The CD record? The vinyl LP or the CD LP?

You mean the studio version doesn't do much for you?

There is no way that 95 version is an overdubbed solo.

You REALLY think that solo is an O/D? That's crazy!

only your hairdresser knows for sure, but the audience-sourced recording doesn't lie

Eh, never heard it. It sounds live to me.

I just listened - on headphones - hard panned to Keith only and there is no live bleed through whatsoever, which is always a telling of it being an O/D or not, on all the other live recordings that have obvious overdubs.

So what gives? Fantastic overdub? Or is it actually live? The audience recording you have - it is the same show?

Maybe yer hairdresser don't really know. I've never heard (well, read) anyone think that was an O/D until now.

Maybe it's meth instead of crack.

listen to the audience source and decide for yerself - it's never a good idea to rely solely on one's hairdresser

Oh wow, this is such an awesome track, one of the many reasons why TY is such a glorious album. Raunchy yet soulful, with amazing harp (and vocals) from Mick and the ancient art of weaving in all its full glory from Keith and Ronnie (love how they go on those few extra bars before giving it back to Mick). And the lyrics, baby, they say it all ... there's never been a song that better captures the ravages that time can wreak.

I never, ever get tired hearing of hearing this one.

Still convinced that the solo on the live version is NOT an O/D and that T&A is full of shit.

And that the Stripped B-side is a thousand times better than the TATTOO YOU verison but that's just me.

skipstone, this time you are as wrong as you can be. The original Ronnie solo (Brixton?) is one of the worst solos ever. The overdub is ok. Keith´s playing is fantastic, though.

They would never have put BL on a single with the original solo...

OK. I wish I could hear it. Funny that if it was so bad they must have liked the rest of it enough to have Ronnie do the solo over. Keith's solo is excellent though!

What goofballs.

It shouldn´t be that hard to track up on the Hot Stuff page, I think.

The studio version is really great. Charlie's drumming is loose and jazzy. I think he is playing the brushes. The only thing I do not like is the rinky tink piano, which is a little excessive. Other than that, it is superb!

Anyway, the song itself isn't that clear whether Mick and the woman's faces are in the same boat, or if he's looking better than she.
It's whatever you make of it, obviously, but reading the lyrics I'd say the latter explanation is more in tune with how I perceive the song.
