Been some great bands out over the last couple of years, I suggest that people check out Classic Rock magazine to keep up to date on upcoming groups.

For me, the best band of the year were Airbourne, saw 'em play in a small club in Stoke on trent near the start of the year and they've just exploded. Seen 'em at sweden Rock Festival, Wacken, Donnington too.

Great band, and for me, the new album is better than AC/DC's

Airbourne, Black Stone Cherry and Stone Gods are good too!

Well, he aint exactly a new artist but someone I met on our beloved site here that has really blown me away this last year is TOMMY WOMACK which in turn turned me on to his 80s band Government Cheese. This guy is a helluva talent and never ceases to amaze me with his versatility. Plus he's been a great friend to me. His "Tommy Womack Band" Washington,D.C. cd will rock yer socks off!!

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings - they were Amy Winehouse's original backing band, and are closer to true soul music than that skank will ever be. I had heard of the Drive By Truckers prior to 2008 but didn't start listening to them until then. Great band.

Salme Dahlstrom might be my most recent discovery, as in found out about in 2008. Her album "The Acid Cowgirl Audio Trade" is a tour de force of a party in Big Beat music, but together with the rockabilly guitar licks she uses, the electronic music gets a rock edge. Plus, her songs are very catchy.

Dahlstrom sounds like Snandinavian roots.
