Don't see the connection with the number of songs they perform today ? They could start touring in a month if they really wanted to but with these mega bucks tours a lot of planning has to be done to optimize all aspects. It's not worth their while to play theaters...at this point (and starting in 81 really) they need things to be HUGE !

ok so that's where the BMHO rehearsal info came from. I thought it might have come from Ronnie talking to (super)fans on his way out from the rehearsals ;-) So did anyone go out there yesterday again ? Any activity ? BMHO would certainly work well live, SR/WTBG revisited ! Surely they wouldn't be playing only that one though for a "mini-show".

Close friend to Sally and Ronnie I think, that can't hurt. Her performance in Milan was nothing short of amazing too, the best in a very, very long time, and that's what really matters.

RIP Eric Eric, an artist, SC, hum... I had no idea but I'm pretty sure now I saw the great Oakland 2002 show with him as he had an extra 'gold circle" (or whatever they called it at the time) ticket that he'd advertised on RO. Had never made the connection...

QuoteIrix Here's MOJO 12-2023: This is the text version that was posted on SH and where Jordan let's it rip, uncalled for, unprofessional and disrespectful IMO...besides they wasted enough time as it is with Don Was to use another guy who wants them to "sound like the Stones". He must be all the more bitter that Keith is apparently very happy with what Watt brought to th

ER is not my favorite album but yes, oddly, HD has its eclecticism and 'atmosphere". BMHO and LBTS slightly reminiscent of WTBG or SR and MIR/Dance. No dud like SITM fortunately or the dreary Indian Girl. Keith's tune is also a bit similar. Oh and WWW takes after the ER (I think) "Never Too Into" outtake ! ER has nothing as good as Angry or SSOH though and HD has much

Don't think it was posted here but the Mojo article is in the SH thread and it has a few "nuggets", like apparently Don Was standing up the Stones in September 2022 in NY so they had to get Watt! Seems odd since Mick had more or less enlisted him during the summer. Also Jordan getting completely out of line on how Charlie played towards the end and also how the album was recorded a

Quoteschwonek The Stones haven't played in a long time. Usually the rehearse quite a bit before going on stage. Will they really play live? I wish. It's not a tour with a large crew, lights, staging, etc...these guys are pros, the ultimate pros, playing together is second nature ! Besides they probably rehearsed in London according to the Ronnie NME interview.

Yeah it can wait, especially after the great Planet Rock program! I certainly can't remember any official tease like for SSOH with the hidden cover?

"unswinging" It's not Watt's fault that Charlie's gone...but yes, there is huge contrast between the groovy and swingy MIU and LBTS and tracks like WWW where Jordan thumps his way around and sounds like he's playing to a click track (incredibly Sexton thought that was "great drumming"). It's really odd that Charlie would have liked that kind of play

QuoteHardRiffin QuoteEasterMan Driving Me Too Hard sounds like something Keith would sing. Feels like a slowed down mellow version of "How I Wish". I was thinking the same. Imo it's a Keef song. I really like it! Talking of Keith songs, Mick says around the 8'45" mark that Keith brought in a song and he names something that sounds like "Tumble with Me"?

When confirming he'd recorded a bass part for the new album he said he hadn't flown "in decades"...I guess the last time he flew for sure would have been in 1990. On the other hand like he's quipped a few times over the years, "never let the truth get in the way of a good story" so who knows...

We've only had a few tracks but the SG reference seems to make sense with the energy and general sound that transpires, it's got this rawness/immediacy that's been lacking ever since. Given their recording process it's not surprising, except for SW that was done with a deadline too but it ended up being a bit "stale".

These guys are pros and have been playing live for 60+ years, they don't need to rehearse for weeks to play a mini-set as a 5 piece band ! Having had the good luck of seeing them rehearse in Bondy they know their stuff inside out, even things they haven't played for decades, like No Expectations. Just a quick listen of the tape, a prompter for Mick and that's it.

Thanks for sharing that terrific article from The Times, the best one by far so far, both insightful (the songwriting process for instance) and analytical. Oh and Mick still hasn't forgiven Don Was for VL apparently "the temptation a lot of producers have is to remake their favourite Stones album" ;-)

QuoteDandelionPowderman That Keith-track sounds really promising! And Living By The Sword didn't sound anything like Really Wanna Tell The Truth (as many have claimed). It sounds much better, imo. Actually the claim on SH was that "Mess It Up" was the finished version of RWTTT, which is plausible since it's described as a lightweight "dance" number.

Yes these sessions are a bit of a mystery, initially they went in to record the couple of tracks promised at the Blimp PC a few weeks before and that Keith said had yet to be recorded, "only a small problem" or something like that. Then they showed up and Mick must have bombarded them with all his new songs and since they had the time they just went ahead and demoed them to see what wou
