There are many guitar players the same age as Keith who are still playing some of the best guitar of their lives. Clapton, Neil Young and David Gilmour to name a few sound pretty amazing live these days. Saw all three recently and all gave jaw dropping performances. As for keith I sort of hold my breath, hoping that he plays good. What Keith should do is release some of those country style so

In my opinion She Saw Me Coming is one of the worst songs on the new album. Sounds like filler to me, maybe a good idea but nothing more. Not a huge fan of Streets of Love but there certain people who love it.

Well for a band that has never played almost half of their entire catelog live I'd say that the underrate most of their music. And YGMR has to be the most overrated stones tune, they play it live more than great songs like Beast of Burden or Midnight Rambler. Here is my list.. 60s .. hard to pick one but I'll say Long Long While or Memo to Turner 70s .. Hide Your Love 80s .. Had

Interesting article thanks for posting. IORR has always been my least favorite Stones album from the 70s. Would love to hear a similar perspective on other albums.. By the way, I had been traveling and not on the board for a while.. its funny to come back and read the same posts from the same people about Mick Taylor, almost word for word from other posts.. some things never change..

Just came across this thread and thought I'd comment.. Chuck Berry could easily say that he stole many of his licks from T Bone Walker, listen to any of T Bone Walkers solos and its very noticeable. Chuck might have turned the music from a jazz/blues sound into a more upbeat rock n roll sound but the guitar licks and styles are very similar.

Hey maybe someone should point out this thread to some of the Taylor people here who claim that Taylor should get writing credits on Shine A Light since he worked with Mick on the studio version from Exile. They never seem to get that these ideas and songs were penned long before they were actually on an album.

Not sticking up for Open G but I must admit at least he does add some insightful comments sometimes and can take some abuse. The other Taylor guy MLC repeats the same lines all the time and insults everybody if they don't agree with him. By the way, Pearl Jam isn't bad but they can come of very cheesy at times. Not sure why, maybe its the way Vedder sings, that same tone he has used

MLC - man can you make any posts without insulting people and starting fights. Wow. Everyone has a brain, but brains have opinions as well. About the Killer, I think its funny in the movie Walk the Line to watch the actor who plays him. Seems like Jerry had the long hair thing going before anyone else. Great pics!

This sounds like it belongs with the 'cringe' thread... "Give me the names of 2-3 other artists who can charge an average of 100 Euro per ticket all over Europe in 14 months touring and get a crowd of 2.2 million people, and I will agree" Not that I am saying that the Stones are fading but these figures mean very little to me. Its about the music, Britney Spears lip syn

MLC, where do you get these quotes from, honestly... I am baffled with these comments from sources or close friends of Taylor. You can't go around making assumptions on things without some sort of evidence and then go around with an attitude when people question what you are talking about.. And your initial post very much did imply that the Stones share their earnings with past memebers o

Where the Boys Go, to me it sounds like they are trying to be something their not, Squeeze, maybe.. definitely one of those early 80s crap punk/pop bands like devo or something. And the girls voices at the end is horrible Can You Hear the Music Back To Zero Might As well Get Juiced You Got Me Rocking.. I have grown to hate it because of its warhorse status and cheesy lyrics

81-82 is my favorite tour musically, hands down. Saw them in 78 and 76, they impressed me more in 81/82. By the time I saw them in 89 my first thoughts were, is this the Stones or a big Pink Floyd production, still good but nowhere near what they brought to the stage in 81/82.

MLC - Read above... "They don't play the entire Shine a Light song, they cut it and it goes into the still frame with Ahmet, complete with the dates of his lifetime and a dedication. I'm pretty sure it was the tape from Beacon 1." The Stones played Shine A Light at the first Beacon show, which is why someone asked if the song was on the movie. Again, this is a concert fr

MLC, dude get over it... This is a concert from 2006, Taylor has no leads in it. Your posts are all over Youtube and other web sites bashing the Stones. If you are trying to get people to appreciate Taylor's work you are doing a horrible job and actually having an adverse effect on people like me who like Taylor but am sick of hearing the same things about him being everything to the Sto

"I don't keep everything I read for documentation." That's the thing, I do when it comes to the Stones and a few times your comments made me dig up old articles I have collected of the Stones and I have never been able to track down any of these things.. Well MLC, all I'm saying is every week I read these theories you throw out there about the Stones being against Taylor and all that. And the quotes you use to back them up are things I have never heard about or read and stuff that nobody else seems to be able to find the original source of either. And I have read so many Stones books, articles and interviews. I have collected them all for ye

Why can't someone be disappointed on this board without being insulted in such childish ways. He paid his money and went to show and was not happy with it. If someone said something about the show and didn't attend it everyone here said, how can you judge a show without being there. Hey I know people who went to the shows and left not only disappointed but angry with the Stones lazin

I think by reading everyone's posts here we see the problem. We don't want them to sound like the albums but since 1989 they have been trying to get their songs to sound more like the albums. Which is why their live sound has suffered since 1989, all the backing musicians came aboard and these songs have been played in a very similar way, more like the songs were recorded in the studio.

I also like Dirty Work.. But like so many other Stones albums it seems to be forgotten by the band when considered for live shows. Harlem Shuffle would be the one I'd ever picture them playing because its heavy on the horns and the guitars are sort of in the background.. but lots of great guitar drive music on DW

Well maybe I have just gotten unlucky. People say go see them play consecutive nights at the same venue and you have a better chance in hearing different songs. Did that but didn't happen. Also I went to the opening nights of both Lick and ABB, only a few different songs. Than a week later in an arena. Same deal. I have turned many people onto the Stones over the years. Just hope they do
