I think thought he was "larger than life" at that period. That reflects in his vocal performances...

This is obviously a band you either love or hate. Still, I'm going to the concert in Oslo Jan. 25. Has anyone seen their show lately? I got some promising Hanoi-boots last week. BTW, Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy are great stones-fans. They're also doing JJF on one of the boots I've got.

My favourite version is on "Hold On Tight" MSG 1975. It's astonishing! Everytime someone bashes Wood, they should put that disc in the player - great stuff. BTW, is he using effects in that solo?

When Keith comes in early in the intro of Live With Me, playing the same lick as Daryl does in the next barre (Mick's grinning) Also, when they're rehearsing Slave. Keith doesn't remember a single chord

HTW is clearly one of the best recorded songs The Stones ever has put out. To grow tired of the song (mostly because of cheesy live versions from the latest tours) is a totally different matter, and has nothing to do with the quality of the song. The sound, the verses, the chorus, the production, the back up-vox, the guitars etc. I can't find a single thing to bash about the original vers

The song has feel and great vocals. Liddas, there are also verses, which are brilliant BTW. Listen to Sleep Tonight on Dirty Work to hear the same piano riff

Mobile is maybe the better show of these two, but the sound is poor, unfortunately.

It's Detroit. I always thought that the mike was damaged or something. Great version.

<It's a shame they didn't play it live in '73> They did, but not too often, unfortunately. The version I have (think it's from Cologne) is great! The only disappointment is actually Taylor's solos, which are not as sharp as on the record.

I'd love to hear them play "Nadine" - my favourite Berry-song.

"New kinds of music" on GHS: 100 Years Ago - Taylor (and Billy P.)-influenced Coming Down Again - Keith-influenced Heartbreaker - Taylor (and Billy P.)-influenced Angie - Keith-influenced Can You Hear The Music - Keith (the riff, the sound, the heart of the song) and Taylor (double, single-stringed guitars)-influenced More traditional stones-songs: Silver Train - typical Keit

<Shepherd's Bush 98, "Melody": Keith (I think) plays lead lines all the way through the song in some totally different key.> That is not true - I have the boot. The same goes for Some Girls; leads all the way through. Horrible playing, but not systematically in a wrong key.

<The riff starts in G> You're partly right, but the first stroke on the riff is actually (neglecting the sus'es and the other academical stuff) a C.

Little Queenie was good in 98. Route 66 (Berry didn't write it, but the stones has always played his version) was also played on that tour. Yeah, they could do more Berry-numbers, at least instead of turning Neighbours, Whip and Star Star into it.

Yes, it's Mick on piano. I think I read somewhere that Mick invented the lyrics as they played the track.

KR, I like what you guys are doing! I only heard Dead Flowers, and on that song it seems like your guitar is tuned, but not to the other guitar. therefore, is sounds out of tune. Another tip (for Dead Flowers): Use the "country scale" for leads - with every run ending on D (or something that harmonizes). If you wanna use the blues scale (as you did on the version I heard), use

<During the Landgraaf show of '99 Keith @#$%& up Memory Motel. But here is the geniues of the band. The adjusted immediatly> The same thing happened in Bremen 98, but there Keith said in the mike that Jagger was wrong or somehting (which he wasn't, of course )

"Occationally", our band seems to do minor and major mistakes during concerts. Rank the worst five of them: 1. Going To A Go-Go - From one of the JD-shows (NJ 1981). The bands stops, and Keith starts (and refuses to quit.) 2. Gimme Shelter - From Perth 1973 - the intro (Charlie doesn't make it any easier for him...). 3. Beast Of Burden - From the same New Jersey-show mentio
