Quotejumpontopofmebaby QuoteDeanGoodman They were the best band at Desert Trip, by far. Attendance is mandatory. Funny how people see things different. I did the 2nd weekend and thought the Stones and Neil were about even and by far the 2 best acts. Dylan was Dylan and he was exactly as I expected. I truly thought The Who was easily the worst band there. I was in the pit and had a

Quotewith sssoul Quotemosthigh '81 Keith was banned from Canada entirely, due to his drug bust in '77. That would be news to the New Barbarians! Why would he be banned, after fulfilling all the conditions of his sentence? He was sentenced in '79 and couldn't apply for a work visa or entry waiver until '84.

QuoteShantipole Interestingly enough, they didn't play Montreal again until the Steel Wheels tour.... Yes, but the only tour they might've deliberately skipped on, was 1975. '78 was very limited US tour. '81 Keith was banned from Canada entirely, due to his drug bust in '77. So '89 was their big return (2 nights), but it was probably like that for other (e

I remember renting this when it came out and making a copy with my friends vcr. Hilarious bits with Bill and Mick in a living 'Rock Museum'. On the plus side, it has uncut versions of 'She Was Hot', 'Too Much Blood' and 'Undercover'. On the negative, some vids are cut short; they 'fast forward' through parts of '@#$%& Blues'; an

Of all the bands mentioned here, how many actually have the original or 'classic' lineup intact? - ZZTop - The Pretty Things (if you consider Dick Taylor and Phil May to be the core) ..or bands that have the potential to reunite the original/classic lineup: - Rolling Stones (although Bill said "never again" after 2012) - The Moody Blues (all still alive and

QuoteMonsoon Ragoon Could it be all shows will be on weekends? The "Avoid Laryngitis Tour 2017" aka "All Sold Out Tour"? Mick just can't sing anywhere where it's too hot, too cold, too dusty, too damp, too high up, too smokey, or smells bad. I don't have to wonder whether The Stones say to the promoter: "Sorry, we didn't put on a very good sho

Selvin's Altamont book paints a good time line of before-to-after the event and tries to be accurate without too much speculation. Although there is some finger-pointing on who REALLY was to blame for it all. Also deconstructs the 'Gimmie Shelter' movie as inaccurate, and not in sequence. However, after reading 1969 tour manager Sam Cutler's book 'You Can't Always

QuoteSilver Dagger I have a feeling that many classic bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who and The Stones are now holding on to whatever archive material they have for the barren years ahead when bands cease to be. The golden years of record sales have long been in decline and to keep interest up for endless re-releases they will need archive material. Take Led Zeppelin for inst

Quotebritstones My last show as well, I managed to snag a front row seat for $99 on the far left side and was able to move closer to the centre in front of Ronnie. Followed the band to the B stage for a real up close experience as well. Security was quite relaxed. I loved Rambler, Shine A Light and the unique Keith set. I also remember the Grey Cup making the rounds at the back of the floor befor

I wonder if he's talked to Pino Palladino from The Who about 'replacing the irreplaceable' on bass ...or the guy from 80's/90's Pink Floyd ...or the new guy in YES ...or all those bass guys in the Allman Brothers (actually, I think they're all dead except for the last one)

QuoteSighunt I've been reading these posts with curiosity. Looking at this from a little distance, I can see that many fans are disappointed and/or pissed about this Gillette Stadium show and what it represents. As a long time Stones fan, I have already wrapped my head around the fact that the Stones have been a money making business machine since they returned and reunited to the stage in 1

Rolling Stones: "Some Tour Seventy-Eight" (Full DVD) A mix of TV news footage, concert clips, and interviews from the 1978 tour of America. Even back in '78, people were shelling out up to $600 to see the Stones (in a theatre), and people were gladly paying $150 for front row seats. "I'd pay anything to see the Stones" Guess Mick was listening.

QuoteJadedFaded QuoteDeanGoodman I heard that someone got smacked in the head last night for refusing to sit down during Keef's set. (And I had my own quasi-Altamont experience in the pit at Desert Trip #2 when a drunken a-hole got the sh1t beaten out of him.) I didn't see that happen in the pit, but people were very aggressive during the Stones set. Totally different vibe on the ot
