A great review that gives the movie its due place, as a "work of art" which it most certainly is. For the detractors here including the person who calls it the "most boring movie ever" well all I can say is you just can't appreciate it. But that is understandable becuase it takes time to appreciate CS Blues. I saw it in one of the first showings back in 1974 and was co

I am wondering. Are the Tokyo shows going to be the the US shows last year where you could go up and get a really good seat on the day of the show ? Or is it going to be the typical overpriced Tokyo show ? Any ideas. Am thinking about going .

Could be possible. I think when the Stones were in SF in 72 they caught an Isley Bros show in Oakland. But we don't hear much about that.

Quotedonvis Hands down 1981! Every song was played rapidly like they were just trying to get it over with. The scarf trick during Tumbling Dice! The ridiculous costumes! And a horrible set list! I saw the Stones at Madison Square Garden on the 81 tour and the sound was just amazing, though I also did not like the set and what they wore, hairdos etc. But you know there was still a lot of excite

Quotenightskyman Ethan Russell's photos are some of the best for the late 60s early 70s. I like the ones he did for Altamont and also Beatles Let it Be film/recording sessions. I believe he did some startling/great photographs of Brian Jones at home shortly before he died I don't know but I think Jim Marshall's photos are the best of that period. His Stones photos are quite s

I kind of think that if there were really that much quality material it would have been released by now, and certainly by last year when anyone with anything to tell was trying to capitalize on the Stones 50th. So I for one doubt there is much there. Look at Robert Frank who recorded the entire 72 tour but what is left is apparently very little, snippets here and there. We learned this when the E

STP is a classic, wonderful book. The book on Exile that came out a few years ago is awful. I saw him give a talk on the book and the period and he just mixed up a lot of details. Not an inspiring book or talk. So I will just re-read STP...

Amen. Amphetamines and setroids are not in the same class. Just go to baseball almanac and look at Sammy Sosa's career. It is shocking. And I agree with No Expectations post as well. One guy with sour grapes making accusations is hardly something to listen to. When there are truly interesting scandals usually over time the truth comes out. But yet you never hear anything about widespread

I read the LA and NY Times articles you posted and I am familiar with these stories already. Milner is the only person ever to accuse Mays of doing anytsomething. But who is the source ? Milner was a coke addict and his testimony was not believeable by Peter Uberroth, Commissioner at the time. This all happened almost 30 years ago (the LA Times article link you posted is from 1985). If Mays had t

Quoteslew I don't get the rolling and burning cars that is ridiculous! As far as Ortiz and the PEDS the list of 103 players that tested positive for something back in 2003 is ambiguous at best. I am not condoning anyone who took PEDS but Ortiz has not tested positive for anything in the last nine years. He is a great hitter and his body has not changed much over tenure with the Red Sox li

Well, the reason the 50s and 60s is regarded as the Golden Age is that it was an era when great black and latin players were on major league rosters. I have alwways found the argument that today's players are better to be ludicrous. If you look back to the old ballparks and the longest home runs that were hit in those parks the old names are at the top of the list: Longest HR ever at

If you believe Willie Mays played on drugs you don't know much about baseball. Mays did not drink, smoke or take drugs. He was famous for his clean lifestyle and he was as pure an athlete as they get. You are right that each era is different but that does not mean one cannot say one era is better than another. One can and this is why The 1950s and 60s are generally regarded as baseballs&

Ortiz tested positive for HGH or some other PED several back so one has to question his performance and, by implication, all three of the Red Sox championships since 2004, coming as they did on strong performances by Ortiz and/or Ramirez, another notorious drug cheat. Baseball is in a sorry state these days. No one knows anymore what is legit and what is not. The game will never be the same.

Quotepmk251 Inglewood Forum, 11/08/69, 2nd. I have previously posted my comments. The show made a lasting impression on me. It was not the most exciting show I ever saw, but even then I had a sense that I had seen something historic. 28 years later I heard the very nice audience recording of that show. I set aside the time, locked my self away, put on earphones and listened to that recording

I tried to watch this once and found it absolutely unwatchable because in every song there is a fade out and blank screen with the IMP logo. Irritating beyond belief. Obviously they didn't want someone to rip-off their release. Ironic considering that that IMP is ripping off the Stones.

There were 2 shows on 7/21 in Philly. The complete early show is on several boots I think. But from what I have read the late show is incomplete and the first 5 or 6 songs are missing. Is this the case or is there a boot with the entire 7/21 show ? would appreciate some insight. Thanks

You see them listed on boots occassionally but they are always the same songs from an audience tape of the show.
