Saw some songs from this show on youtube and wonder if it is a newly discovered recording or has this show been around for a while ? Any other "new" 72 shows out there ?

QuoteSilver Dagger I know there's a revised version with an audience recording completing the show but has anybody ever uncovered the first half of the show in soundboard quality? Yes, I wonder where it is ? I wonder why we have not seen more soundboards from the 69 or 72 tours. I think they were all recorded.

QuoteJMARKO Quotetornnfrayed I don't think there has ever been a SB release of anything from the Winterland shows. Correct me if I am wrong. There was a CD called Winter Tour 73 which purportedly had a few Winterland songs on there but they were audience, not SB I believe two tracks from one of the shows were broadcast locally on SF radio. Sourced from Bill Graham I believe. J I

QuoteVideoJames Oh! how I wish, tapes were made from some shows..Just a feed from the soundboard nothing multi-tracked. I believe the Madison bootleg was one of those.San Fransisco was another. But when talking multi(16 trk) the Stones only did that in Philadelphia Pittsburgh, Dallas & Fort Worth. That's off the top of my head, I have some log sheets on what shows were record in multi t

QuoteVideoJames Thanks for the comments, but a couple things..When I spoke to two of the band members many, many years ago (30+) about the Dallas rehearsals both told me they knew nothing about master tapes from that rehearsal. They told me the best bet would be to ask Rollin Binzer about it existing? I met with Roland years ago, he visited me to look at some outtakes from Ladies & Gentlemen

It would be nice to have a 72 Tour compilation as that is the Stones most famous tour and one of the great rock n roll tours of all times, as widely acknowledged. But I think instead of reworking a show that has been available on bootlegs for decades i.e. unlreased live album it would be better to have songs from shows that have never been released e.g. songs from LA, SF Chicago, NY etc etc along

QuoteEasterMan QuoteDoxa I hope they would re-release a sonically upgraded version of LADIES AND GENTLEMEN as well. That important concert film deserves that. MARQUEE shows that it is possible. - Doxa I belive there was quite a lot of remastering being done before L&G was re-released on dvd/blu-ray in 2010. The picture quality is actually great, the audio quality is not. It's too w

Quotetornnfrayed It is really a shame that the Stones never got to play Japan in the 60s and 70s. The Japanese are such great Stones fans and really deserved more than Steel Wheels and all the crappy tours since then. I am not Japanese but I lived there and the devotion to and interest in the Stones is wonderful. And over the years, thanks to the Japanese fans, we have had a lot of great Stone

The thing about these Vault releases they are all of shows that have been available for years on bootlegs. yes, it is nice to have them in superior quality but still you wish the Stones would release something truly unique, something we have never heard before e.g. LA Forum 1972. But they obviously don't want to do that for some reason. I just don't understand the greed that drives Ja

The only one you need to read is STP by Greenfield. A classic account of the Stones 72 tour. Widely regarded as one of the best rock books ever.

Why Eagle Rock has this 71 show in such good quality while their release of Ladies and Gents was so inferior makes one wonder.

Same medicine, different bottle. Nothing really new here just the same stuff we have been listening to on boots over the past 40 years. At this point the Stones are all marketing and they have shown that they could care less about all of the dedicated fans who have been listening to them over the past 40 years. So they charge ridiculous prices for tickets when they tour and repackage material th

I read somewhere that one reason Taylor quit was that he wanted to tour to promote IORR and the Stones didn't want to tour in 1974, after the album's release. Really too bad. Had he stayed on a little longer the tour the following year might have surpassed the 1972 tour in terms of the Stones reaching their zenith. The latest From the Vaults release is really great with the excepti

Quotepmk251 Whenever WV is mentioned I think the same thing: Where are the '72 San Francisco shows? One would think that surely they were taped. Everyone else was. Yeah, me too. When I first heard about WV and the guy who bought the archives I was very hopeful we would get the Winterland Stones shows and 69 Coliseum shows as well. But so far nothing and it has been about 7 years now. I h

Quotevarilla Why greedy,? for sure they are putting out the best they have, imagewisw and soundwise. They probably haven´t found anything better from 69/72 that we´ve alredy seen I doubt that they don't have better material. I am sure they have lots of it. After all, all of those shows were recorded by the Stones. I think they just don't want to deal with the hassle of going through

Quotetreaclefingers QuoteSharksWillCry I don't know about that. From what I've seen of the '78 tour, Keith was in full control of his faculties, as was Ron (in contrast to '81). I realize that it was "perceived as being full of problems" but the recent '78 Live in Texas has probably changed that perception. Hell, I've got the Hampton Blu-ray and LP on order

I grew up with the Giants as well and rooted for them for many years from the 60s thru the 80s. But then the ugly association with Barry Bonds showed us the Giants are an organization without class that just cares about selling tickets. And not just the issues with the Giants but Who can get excited about baseball at all these days. The Steroid Era destroyed the game. Not to mention that these gu

Quotewith sssoul Quotestonesrule You might consider Ethan Russell's big hard cover Let It Bleed. A book about the '69 tour that puts a photo from '72 on the cover isn't for me. Russell's obviously a brilliant photographer but the way some of the shots are reversed in that book, plus some really unfortunate decisions about where to split 2-page spreads, hurt me too m
