Quotejbwelda That directly contradicts what has been said, that the flac came from the cds not from the low bit rate mp3 downloads. Unless you are saying that the CDs originally came from the exact same mp3 files that were available for download here. But I think that is totally incorrect. Its a matter of the chicken or the egg, and in this case I believe both the low res mp3 and the flac both

Quotefloodonthepage Quotejbwelda >Hopefully the FLACs are really from the CD-Rip and not 'up-converted' from the Download-MP3s. That has been my point or at least my question from the beginning. Were he flacs from the cd or from the already degraded mp3s posted here originally. Disclaimer: no complaints whatsoever no matter which way, would just like to get straight in my head

Quotegotdablouse Dude please point out any MP3 artifacts you may have spotted then we'll talk about this being "sad but true", seriously guys... Isn't it ironic that for decades we've had to listen to terrible sounding "LOSSLESS" cassette dubs at the 8th generation with people being congratulated here because they mastered the art of speed correcting and now

QuoteTravellinMan Quotekowalski Actually most of these tracks are more likely 128~160kbps mp3's. So since I couldn't wait and burned the mp3 files upped by bkeys (thanks) there is no need to toss those disks and burn from the flac files? The flac files are the same quality as the mp3s? Thanks Kowalski. To me they sound quite similar (both have this hollow sound caracteristic of lo

QuoteFreebird1959 Quotebkeys for those that can't wait on lossless files. Thank you so very much!!!!!!!!!!!! The lossless files (presumably from the CD's) are actually from lossy sources (if you look at the file in an audio editor most of the files features an abrupt cut around 15kHz). Which may means that when buy the CD's on ebay you actually buy mp3 files converted to wav

The new Japanese stand-alone CD reissue is probably the most faithful to the original UK release which was all mono. ABKCO has a digital download-only release available since 2010 but with a mix of mono and stereo versions. Available here :

Which SHM-CD are you talking about ? There are so many of them with at least 2 different masterings. The SHM-CD's issued in 2009, 2010 an 2011 all use the Universal 2009 remaster (which is very loud). 2009 : 2010 : 2011 : The SHM-CD issued in 2015 has a different mastering which according to what's written on the "obi" is sourced from the "DSD master" (mo

While I totally like this reissue (the new mix, the new tracks...), I find that the bonus disc is a better listening experience without the first 2 tracks (Scarlet & All The Rage) and with 2 Japanese bonus tracks added. The 2 new tracks, to me, don't belong to the GHS era. Without these 2 tracks you have a proper and geniune 10 tracks archival bonus disc with one outtake, a couple of a

QuoteErik_Snow Quotekowalski So, what's going on with the flute on CYHTM? Different take ? Just goes on for a longer of time, same take, I'd say Meanwhile I like to hear Glyn Johns versions, I think this CYHMK is reason enough alone, for the band to ditch him. Zillion times better on the official release. Thanks for removing them clicks/pops. Quite agree. However to me the Gl

Quotewiredallnight QuoteGivenToFly15 Thanks a lot. There is a click at the beginning of CYHTM. Can someone confirm if it's on the original CD? Yes it is. No ripping error. Both tracks have several clicks at the beginning. I fixed both using izotope de-click module. You can get the de-clicked tracks here : Thanks to the original poster!

Quotejackflash27 Quotejackflash27 Quotesatisfaction2 VINYL sounds GREAT! Mmmm, cannot agree with that completely. Is sounds 'ok', but still too loud and boomy in my opninion. Had to turn the bass down a quarter and the treble up to make it more balanced. The live performance is great, One of their best live records obviously. Soundwise it's not that great, but I agree with yo

QuoteDandelionPowderman I just had a listen to the vinyl. It sounds fantastic, and to my ears it sounds like the very same mix. It's the same Bob Clearmountain mix. If you still have the original download around, you will notice the 2020 release is louder though.

QuoteDiamondDog7 I got the GOATS HEAD SOUP 2020 SUPER DELUXE VINYL BOX SET, but I regret it a little bit. There's no book or posters or other fun stuff. Stupid of me. I should've bought the other box! BUT I really love the sound quality and I love the instrumental version of Heartbreaker. Filled with mystery and coolness! Same for me. As I already had Brussels Affair on CD (from

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotedubclub QuoteDandelionPowderman I'm pretty sure this mix will be awesome on vinyl. Yes it is Todays CDs or other digital formats are very frequently so brickwalled, that it is no fun for me listening to those crappy mastered music. Quoteironbelly QuoteTaylor1 Do the credits say who plays the acoustic guitar on Heartbreaker? And does Brussels Affair sound better? Brussels Affair in digital domain is a clone of Japanese WARD records CDs. I.e. DR varies between 5 and 7 (most are 7 though). Everything is clipped to 0.0 dB. LPs, probably, is different story. The original download from Stones archive has more dynamic range and d

Get the latest reissues on vinyl, ie the 'half speed mastered' ones. I've just got ABB from this series and it sounds quite good. If you have more time hunt for some late 70's reissues, they sound great and are usually cheap. That's how I built my own collection.
