I was at the SLC show, and had about five too many by the time they hit the stage. If you hear an idiot yelling, "Toby!" about 30 times in the set, that was me, unfortunately. I do remember Rain Fall Down being shown for the AMA's, and it was pretty flat. Only time I ever got Get Off My Cloud live though. I remember liking that. TeaAtThree

This is just one gem after another. I'm four songs in -- love some of the playing on Dreams to Remember, for example. It sounds like a song that, if given editing and some focused love could have been the next Far Away Eyes. T@3

Love buried alive, but I also love Mick's backing vox on it. That could be the third tune of the set with Mick's triumphant return to the stage. T@3

Call me crazy, but I have a soft spot for Bill's album "Monkey Grip." I loved it because of it's unassuming nature. It was an album of songs that didn't try to be Stones songs or something new (like She's the Boss). Dusted it off just a few nights ago. Faves are "I Wanna Get Me a Gun" and "What a Blow." It was also the first solo Stones rec

There is also a New York Times opinion piece from this past weekend entitled, "What Would David Bowie Do?" in reference to last week's events in the American capitol. It can found here. I fully understand if this post needs to be deleted if this is judged as too political. I do not mean to cross any lines. T@3

QuoteGasLightStreet But... no new album. Not even a new single. This can't really be the Stones, it must be Bravado or whatever the name of the company that... bought their rights... or something like that. Why not tea? From the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world: the finest herbal tea in the world, The Rolling Stones' TEA AT THREE. Featuring: Midnight

I saw JJ Cale in Boston likely mid-90s. Very tasteful and understated player, riff oriented, which is perhaps the Keith connection. The thing I remember most clearly was he and a female vocalist created a natural fade out -- I think on the song "Money Talks" -- by backing one step away from the microphone with each repetition of the line. His sense of swing always seemed to be ut

When I was first exploring boots in the early 80s, there was a record store in Towson, MD, that RENTED records by the day. My buddy and I would rent five or six records on Saturday, take 'em home, tape em on cassette and return them the next day. My first was probably "In Again, Out Again," which I think was Passaic, NJ 78. T@3

Quote24FPS T@3 The Dead have a distinct advantage though. Almost every single Dead show was professionally recorded by the crew. And the fact that every show is a different setlist, it makes sense to have multiple releases from each tour. Here's the good news. They have incredible archives, both audio and video dating back to 1967. The bad news? It's the Grateful Dead. To

While many Stones fans loathe the Grateful Dead, they have got the whole archival thing down. Quarterly releases of shows released from all eras, box sets of multiple shows from 1972, 1976, 1977, 1990 -- all tremendous years for them. As Stones fans we've gotten some true gems -- Brussels, Live at Leeds (71), Ladies and Gents, LA Friday, 78, Hampton, Atlantic City (89), Voodoo Uncut, Brid

QuoteStoneage In the old days, before many of you were born, you got a record. That was it. Then you could discuss the recording here. The sound, the songs and so on. That seems to be history now. Now you discuss which of the one hundred options you opted for. Or which booklet to choose. I got the japanese editon with 35 cd:s, 14 dvd:s, 10 blu-rays, 5 t-shirts and a smaller library of booklets. W

Funny, I thought about that just last night. Noticed it sitting on the shelf in the bedroom. Something about it doesn't make it a must listen. What I ought to do is make a mix of it with the first album, which I freakin' love. T@3
