Taylor was smoking on that tour. Real Live could have been such a better record. T@3

ROCKMAN, skip to "Love and Theft" a much more upbeat and varied record. I'm with you, the gloom of Time Out of Mind is hard. Great songs though. T@3

Quoterockdoc8885 Great tour even if the shows were a bit too polished and predictable. I was fortunate to see opening night in Philly and got to hear the abbreviated version of Shattered. Great set list and good long show with reasonable ticket prices. It was about the music not the spectacle that the band seems more concerned with now. Voodoo Lounge was better, better mixing with guitars

Demon, hmm. Truth is I probably ran out of gas before I got that far. Giving it a listen right now. Keith soloing without trying to hard. Definitely has its charms. T@3

Agreed. Main Offender never caught my ear the way Talk is Cheap did. And I like both Ronnie albums. T@3

Welcome, JordyLicks96! First time 1981 show #2 in Philly. Fave album, depends on the day, but I'll go with Goats Head Soup at the moment. Song? Currently Casino Boogie. Enjoy! T@3

I too plan to follow MisterDDDD's plan. Am attending Chicago 1 and hope to keep my prying eyes off of setlists so that I'm in for a surprise. Most tours I know the setlist -- except when it's early -- 1994 DC, for example. Wish me luck. T@3

That was fascinating. What a lot of pressure/what a thrill to be setting the standard every time they toured. I also appreciate the notion that the "show" has to represent the spirit of the band, so a Catherine Wheel becomes "too Pink Floyd" instantly. T@3

Waited two hours in the "virtual queue," found the few seats left by then to be hard to navigate and got shut out of anything but really crappy nosebleeds. How anyone who works (like I do) can spend the sheer quantity of time needed to buy tickets is ridiculous. Went to Stub Hub in the evening and got Lower Bowl tickets for a large handful of dollars. Meeting up with by brother

So sad to hear it. We've had our first dog for only three years now, and she almost surrendered to a kidney infection over the summer. It made me dread the day she won't be in our house any longer. With love. T@3

That compilation of covers reveals why Beggars Banquet was such a departure. Every single cover before that had the band's faces -- and then they proposed a toilet!!! Holy cow! I happen to love the invitation cover myself, but I lacked the context to know why the original proposal was so off the wall. T@3

Just a great, great American band. They started as low-fi "indie" and morphed into a major label success without losing their soul or their credibility. Michael Stipe matured from an unconfident mumbler who used is a voice as another instrument (beautifully, I might add), into a full-blown lyricist and front man. I loved that they credited all their songwriting to the full band.

What makes LYL work is the ENERGY of the performances. It feels like an incredibly good time is being had all over the place. Just try to play that album and sit still. The playing is certainly superior on Ya Ya's, but LYL had the sense of fun and abandon still present through Some Girls and even Tattoo You. Still Life captured some of that feel, though the Hampton show is way better.

QuoteRollingFreak QuoteJumpingKentFlash Its a great album. That said their best work was behind them at that point. As Harrison said in Anthology: It’s like everything is going in a circle and they’d gone up and up and up, until it started slightly going down. And then they quit. I wouldn’t want to be without Abbey Road or LIB though. Well and its also amazing, although I guess this depends on

That's a profound question. I try to live in a world that values community, kindness, and goodness above everything else. That's a very tall order in this day and age. But over time I have realized several core ideas: 1. We make a difference in the world one person at a time, in how we treat anyone we come in contact with. 2. Most people are who they are and can't be c

I'm no audiophile, never pretended to be, so selection, convenience, ease of use trumps that in my opinion. I started with Spotify in its free version and soon tired of the commercials. I'm an eclectic listener -- the last week included Hank3,the Derailers, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, and Frank Zappa to name a few, and I can find most of what I'm looking for on Spotify. I

Easily my least favorite solo LP by anyone in the band. I have tried and tried to listen to it over the years and literally skip through songs after 60 seconds. And, yes, the cover should be in the top five all-time horrendous artistic choices for album art. Lordy! T@3

Interesting question. In terms of "older" I'm 51. My first show was Philly #2 in 1981. Of course, this was pre-internet, so all I knew when I hopped in the car to ride from Baltimore to Philly was Kim Carnes had played Under My Thumb on SNL (which certainly suggested they would play it) and whatever was written in the papers after the first show. From your list in terms of ol
