I should first make it clear that I love women and I don't like disrespectful language directed towards women, or in fact towards anyone. But I enjoy it when I hear Mick or Keith sing the word "bitch", because of how it rolls off their tongues. From them it sounds like they're paying tribute to, or at least acknowledging, how strong and tough a woman can be. Here are a f

QuoteVoodooLounge13 QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteRollingFreak Quotemjmjr QuoteVoodooLounge13 Really loving Wanting and Waiting. To me it’s better than anything on HD!! It’s got more soul. It rocks. And it sounds authentic. Anyone know who the new lead guitarist is? The video is pretty great too. You can't be serious I believe it. HD was really not good. This doesn't sound revo

There seems to be a lot more love on this board for Tell Me Straight than for what I consider to be its closest cousin - Losing My Touch. Maybe I'm missing something, but they seem awfully similar to me, melodically and overall-quality-wise. Can someone tell me straight why TMS is superior (if it is), before I lose my touch completely? QuoteMKjan The US figures are not very surprising despite B&L sales and a great concert history. We live in the United Mistakes of Amnesia, and that's a shame. I don't think the title helps. Most Americans (myself included) haven't heard of Hackney. Not to mention Fulham. Drew

QuoteLeonidP QuoteBastion QuoteLeonidP QuoteBastion Most people on this site could watch each member of the band be replaced one by one and still argue it's the Rolling Stones Sweet -- didn't know the criteria, so we judge the albums not by sound/songs but by how many original band members are present. Glad we have some that know-it-all, to let the rest of us know what we should like,

Quotekeefriffhards First off with only two original members left it's not a Stones album, the fact there are no killer riffs therefore Keith doesn't really give a damn for this album leaves us with Mick, so it's a Mick album ( other than a few Keith tracks ) with Ronnie on it as a session musician. Basically it's a Jagger/ Andrew Watts album with Keith and Ronnie contractu

Quotewindmelody The album overall is very tame - I am not too thrilled by the tamed Rolling Stones. Most lyrics reflect an extremely defensive position. One can sense how rigid the zeitgeist has become - the Stones try everything to avoid any kind of scandal. The sound on "Hackney Diamonds" is fresh - this is pleasant. Agree 100%. This is not the wild, hedonistic, dangerous, bluesy ban

Quote1962 Quotewhitem8 For me just another mundane release from a group that resembles The Rolling Stones. It reminds me a lot of A Bigger Bang, not too memorable and not an album I would ever really put on after a few listens. It is still clear that Mick and Keith don't really write together any longer. It seems for the most part like a Jagger solo record with some Keith and Ronnie sprinkl

QuoteBig Al There is a definite side to me that would dearly like to be one of those avid collectors, who hoovers-up, and consumes literally everything ‘Rolling Stones’ Reading here on Tell Me about fellow contributors and their vinyl collections, box-sets, 8 copies of Hackney Diamonds on pre-order, and so forth. Thing is: I don’t have the room, I don’t have the money, and, well, there is another

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 I used to be 8. But tbh some of the fun has gone out of it for me; With every single being released in color, upside down, live, remixed, Japanese, not Japanese. Also my listening direction has changed. If I listen to official stuff, it will be early, early. Otherwise, just boots. QuoteNICOS 2/3 If you ask me this in the early 70's it would probably 7/8, bu

QuoteGazza I have never had any desire to be 'species' 6,7 & 8. Total waste of money and energy. Each to their own, though. I feel fortunate not to be one of those. Maybe they're enjoying themselves but it seems kinda self-deluding. Like they're trying to satisfy some inner demon that wants to be fed so they get that dopamine rush. Drew

Calling all collectors on this site: Which species are you? (1) I'm very casual. If I hear a Stones song I like, I might buy the CD. (2) I collect every officially-released song of theirs (a "song" being defined as "it is part of Rene's Track Talk series"). I have one version of Miss You, for example, in my collection (on CD and/or MP3). (3) I don't car

Bringing this thread back to the song itself, I'm starting to develop a very strange, two-part conclusion about SSOH. #1 - SSOH is their greatest song ever. Or it is, at least, their grandest and most soul-stirring and uber-epically-amazing recording ever. (Is there anyone, even on this board, who hears it and is not stirred by it? I doubt that!) #2 - It is flawed. Like they are. Lik

Interesting. Hadn’t thought about it from that angle. But who is still angry with Mick/ the Stones in 2023? In the sixties and seventies, with all the controversy they stirred up, yes, many people were. But all that’s long been forgiven and forgotten. They are now a family-friendly act that everyone loves. So bummed that I missed the leak for "Get Close" (that's what I get for not visiting IORR for 2 days!!) But the lyrics, ohhhh baby. Soooooooo good. A hyper-concentrated dose of dark, erotic obsession. Marvelous stuff. Unlike the cliched lyrics in "Angry". "The wolf's at the door"?? Ooof. Drew
