QuoteMKjan VL13 It is tiring to see your dreary repetitive comments on HD. Can’t you have some sense and understand how boring and forgetable your endless ranting is. Consider this a favor, to spare you further embarassment of more quibbles. I come on this thread to read about the great album the Stones have given us, not to witness your troubled ways. Peace. This is a Rolling Stones

QuoteDandelionPowderman I'm pretty sure they could pull off both Driving Me Too Hard and Live By The Sword nicely live. They would have to take the risk that at the start of Driving, people think it's Tumbling Dice, start cheering enthusiastically, then realise it's not, and inflate all that energy. I've seen that sort of thing happening with other acts, and though it'

QuoteSilver Dagger Spot on Gas. It stands alone on its own merits. The most common argument is that it's not as good as so and so. Why do people feel the need to compare all the time? Do people really want the band to regurgitate the classic Stones' sound from the 70s? I certainly don't. That was then but this is now. It's a great album. This seems to be a misunderstanding

Quotededospegajosos No it is not. Sticky Fingers is a GREAT album. And besides I didnt say I dont like HD, I like it a lot, I just dont think it is a great album, it is good though, kinda like steel wheels. I think the comparison with Steel Wheels is very accurate. Good but not great.

Quotedcba Quoteskytrench Gotta disagree with that, Not Fade Away was an great opener for Voodoo Lounge, It was keith's idea and Mick complained it totally failed at pumping up the audience and putting it in the right mood. In 97 they opened shows with the very fast "Satisfaction" which says a lot. Wow, if Mick really has said that, it goes to show he really sometimes misses

Quotevertigojoe I wonder if Mick really regrets his cheapness in not giving MT any songwriting credits. He drove him away by doing this i believe. Its a bit like a man having an affair with a beautiful young woman(Taylor), being inspired by her, wanting to be with her, but in the end opting to stay with his wife (Richards) despite the fact that the relationship is dead, he sure doesn't love

If a band doesn't know how to play a song of theirs live, they shouldn't play it live. Simple.

Quotededospegajosos Overdubbing with a new performance is one thing, copying and pasting from the studio version is a new level of mediocrity ...and also stupidity It certainly is not very "punk". If that word has any meaning at all, it must be the opposite of something like overdubbing a studio version onto a live recording.

You're making some interesting points. I might give it another chance. Also, the fact that HD is an album on which all of the three remaining Stones seem to agree about the songs is certainly something to applaud compared to previous albums, on which there were "Mick-songs" (which Keith probably didn't like) and "Keith-songs" (which Mick probably didn't like).

QuoteDandelionPowderman On some songs, yes. Bite My Head Off, Dreamy Skies, Live By The Sword, Driving Me Too Hard, Tell Me Straight, Sweet Sounds Of Heaven and Rolling Stone Blues are pretty standard Stones, imo. Get Close, too. That's 8 out of 12 songs. «Incidentally», those are also the «less» produced tracks as well. I guess this is what I meant when I said it's highly subject

And I actually like Aerosmith. At least, I like "Pump". But it's an album that stands out for his melodies, his verse/chorus/bridge like songs. Maybe that's what he meant.

The Stones have made a number of sappy, kitchy songs. Why one likes some of them and doesn't like others is hard to explain. I very much like Indian Girl and Sister Morphine and kind of like Fool To Cry and Sweethearts Together. I dislike Blinded by Love or Blinded by Rainbows or Out Of Tears. And I neither like nor dislike Streets of Love, although I can understand some people loathe i

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotewindmelody Quotebakersfield ... It is great if you enjoy Hackney Diamonds, Bakersfield, and you definitely have a point: Many Stones songs depend on the band's performance: Jagger's voice, the weaving of the guitars, the rhythm section. Yet, to my impression, many songs on Hackney Diamonds sound fresh, but very constructed. An example for that is Angry. A

Let me add that I like the Stones because they were special in the sense that they combined groovy American roots music (blues and soul mainly) with a certain pop-sense, but without loosing their rawness. As exemplified especially at their start, and later from late-60s until mid-70s, with a small revival at the end of the 70s. I recently read an interview with the former Police drummer, Stewart

Quotebakersfield Hackney Diamonds is the stones best album since I’m girls in my opinion. Those of us on this board like the stones just because of the sound they make so we enjoy albums like Emotional Rescue and Undercover though the quality of the songwriting isn’t that great because we like the guitar sound, the way that Micks voice sounds et cetera. Hackney diamonds stands out from these beca
