Quotetreaclefingers QuoteAntoineParis So i'm the only one who think Hackney Diamonds is from far the worst album ever produced by the stones? I disagree with this, I think. I believe the confusion arises from a lack of punctuation. In other words, how it reads...it feel's like it's missing a comma. I would rewrite it as: is from far, the worst album So with the comma

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotededospegajosos Shoudn´t he hit the rim of the snare (as well as the center)? Correct me if I´m wrong, but I think he doesn´t. Charlie certaily did. I always thought his snare sounded weak. This is very apparent in the Racket cd. Any drummers here? Charlie hit the middle of the snare, not the rim and center. QuoteKoen What does “hit the rim” mean? It means hitting the edge of the snare drum with the drumstick as well as the center of the patch. You must do it hard on both places to get that whacking rock sound. Charlie did it perfectly. From what I have seen and heard on Live at the Racket Steve doesn’t do it, or does it very softly (on the rim) The drummer from the Pixies does not hit it also.

QuoteMelBelli Like this? Cant watch the video right now, but from what I have seen, he is a very good drummer, and I really apreciate the familiarity he as with Keith, big points there, he just needes to loosen up and go crazier I think, to achieve madness, as Mick would say

QuoteMelBelli Some songs sound better than others. SMU is particularly flat and inert. Steve is stuck in a sort of liminal space where he sounds neither like himself nor Charlie. Mick has explicitly urged him to be himself. That is good advice. That´s very true. He should let go and go crazy, bring his own stuff, something new.. and please, hit that snare rim!

Listen closely. Nothing personal, I actually like the guy. So would you tell this to Charlie Watts' face? He's the one that picked Steve when he was ill. I would give my goddamn soul to

He is very robotic. I must admit though, he surprised me in Rocks Off. He got looser and looser as the song progressed. That was very good drumming. That song is great , everyone gets crazy in the last part.

QuoteGasLightStreet Quoteliddas What really surprises me of all the outtakes that leaked over the years, is how diverse the Stones could sound - both composition and playing - and how little of this diversity ended up in the albums released along the years. It always makes me wonder how many great songs have been discarded only because they were not the kind of song that a stones fan expects from

Plus I don't imagine the man happily going through hrs of outtakes from an album he more or less disowned (see the already mentioned 1995 interview etc). Nah brin

Each new album tour from VOODOO through BANG revealed they were more interested in being historical than present. The work they d
