There's an interesting tread on these sessions over there: so I was getting curious, even though Satanic is not my favourite Stones lp; butI love to hear the band work in progress. Maybe after listening I'll even change my mind about this record?! I'm downloading right now the Flacs, this will keep me busy for a while. Ludwig8745, thank you very much, your work is

Actually, they did four shows in London in December 1969; two at the Saville Theatre on Dec. 14th, and two at the Lyceum on Dec. 21st. As far as I know, only Jumpin' Jack Flash, Carol & Satisfaction from the Saville are in circulation.

Quotemidnrambler You don't get the full show in correct order on 2 discs. I was just looking out for "The Original Hold On Tight"! What is missing there?

At long last, a John Fahey fan over here!?! I never heard any of the Stones mentioning JF, but surely a lot of guitar players must have heard a few tunes from the Fahey canon. Ry Cooder claimed, that Keith had stolen some of his riffs; but where did Cooder get those open tunings from?? He also has listened to some of Fahey's stuff, I think. Anyway, in the end it seems everybody &quo

Your memory serves you well, the album is called "Saturday Club" Decca LK 4583 and for a long time this was one of the few releases, where you could get the other version of "Poison Ivy" and the studio version ( well, I know it is also studio on "Got Live If You Want It"!) of "Fortune Teller". I think this lp was only released in the UK. I don't

Doc had to undergo a micro-surgery recently, a small spot in his lung had to be removed, he's already back home and recovering nicely, that's what I've heard. Good to see that some people over here like him too!! ...and thanks for posting this, of course!

>>'Otis Blue' has to be his definitive album. Not 100% liking of 'Satisfaction' but the rest are gems thru and thru with more than a nod to Sam Yes, I agree with you ( also on that Sam Cooke thread, by the way!) I "only" have "Otis Blue" on vinyl, there's been a remastered double cd released lately, is that worth looking for??

>>On the posted version Mick starts with the words 'all right' before singing Brown sugar. >>On the Stone Crazy boot he starts directly singing. That's what I'm talking about. So either Stone Crazy/Silkcut or Nasty Music/Timeless Europe etc...are wrong!

Thanks for your efforts, folks! I have a copy of the Stone Crazy bootleg, disc one and silkcut version are from the same show, BUT it seems that this is the show from Oct. 13th.! That's what he book "Words Of Wonder" says and if you listen to BS from silkcut and to the version posted her you can tell they are different after half a minute!

Thanks for posting this, Rolling on. You've taken BS from one of the various releases like "Timeless"/"Nasty Music"/"Bedspring Symphony" etc...?? Do you have the complete Oct. 14th second show, maybe even as an audience tape? Just like to check if this version of BS is really from this show

Hello Elmo! I don't think this exists! I remember this vaguely and your thread reminds me of one of the many mistakes I made in my life, since I had a subscription to the NME from 1969 onwards, but I sold the magazines long time ago! In the early seventies the NME was THE mag for the Stones fan with many first hand stories; but I believe they made this up, maybe they hoped someone wou

Skipstone, here's what I can do for you. If you're talking about the vinyl release, there are very few copies in circulation that have different versions of Brown Sugar & Wild Horses, both sound like early demo versions. You must look for a November 71 pressing, matrix standard XZAL 11018 and then it says Shelley and then: 11-18-71 !!! You'll either need much luck or m

>>this album is very highly reviewed at allmusic.com, which calls it the best live album of its era--strange, since the site says the same thing about Jerry >>Lee Lewis at the Star Club, 1964! (which is a more recent release and probably a newer review) They are right in both cases, both albums are dynamite! PS: There was a thread on the Star Club Lp here months ago, you may try

Well, I am not Rockman, but I think you should look for this: "Bo Diddley's Beach Party" Checker-LP-2988 fom 1963 with a stunning version of "Road Runner" This might even get Rockman's approval, we'll have to wait and see!

Mathijs, I have an old magazine about the 69 tour (my favourite) by Michael Lydon with uncredited photos, I don't know if you know this mag. It has several photos with Keith and his Dan Armstrong, capo on 4th fret and without capo; but I cannot say which song they are playing. Unfortunately, I cannot post these pics here, send me your e-mail address and I'll mail them to you, you may
